Andie's Song

You asked me to comic con
You wore a deadpool hoodie
And combat boots
I thought you were the coolest thing since sliced bread
You had only known me for 2 weeks
And I needed a friend
More than anything
And then
Just like that
You were there

Your hair was like strawberries in champagne
Your eyes bluer than the ice on the ground
It was nearly summer
But Illinois
Was always bipolar

I don't think jealously was the right word
To describe how I felt about you
But you were definitely out of my league
I didn't feel like I could fit in
To your group
To your style
To your art

Talent was underestimating your limits
I wanted to be more like you
Completely platonic
But then you pulled me to the side and said
"Please stop drawing me"

That's when you broke my heart
And not for the last time

Three years you were like a sister to me
Your family welcomed me into their home
To their table
When my father couldn't put food on mine

High school eventually had to end
And that's when we both escaped

I would have put my hand on a bible for you
Got on my knees for you
But we both had other plans

I miss those long drives
Pretending to be in a music video
We could harmonize
But that was just another way
You always out shined me

I'm sorry we didn't have more time

I just needed to say

I miss you
