Chapter 2

Being sorted into Gryffindor was one of the best things to ever happen to me. Over the next few weeks, I made friends, and apparently excelled in my classes. At least, that's what Professor Slughorn said, even if he wasn't meant to. He said, and I quote, " You are one of the brightest first year students I've ever had the pleasure of teaching."

I didn't see my brother, or his friends much, seeing as they took 2nd year classes. Not to mention, Sirius was always flirting with 3rd years. Or trying to at least. He had a habit of going after older girls, who were always way out of his league.

I had met Sirius' friends Remus and Peter, very early on in the year as well. Remus was sweet, and although Peter wasn't a jerk, he just seemed kinda suspicious sometimes. I don't know, but it seemed as though something bad was going to happen with him.

I was shaken from those thoughts as Sirius plopped down next to me at the Gryffindor table. He proceeded to complain about how 'Snivellus is a git' or 'Snivellus got house points taken from Gryffindor'. Honestly I'd never heard my brother care so much about something someone else did.

He was usually a very carefree person, seeing as he didn't bat an eye when our parents found out he was sorted into Gryffindor. Speaking of which, it had been almost a month, and I still hadn't heard from my parents. I wonder if they knew I had been sorted into Gryffindor. It was quite peaceful though, without all the pressure from my parents.

But of course, all good things seem to come to an end. I recognized my mother's black owl, as soon as it flew in. I winced as the bird dropped a letter on the table, partly because it was creepy, and partly because I had a feeling I knew what it was about.

Dearest Daughter,

I'm shocked to hear that you were sorted into Gryffindor as well. I sincerely hope that this is a simple mistake, so I'm coming down to the school sometime soon to sort it out. I've planned to speak with Dumbledore about you switching houses. I will not tolerate any more Gryffindors in this family.

Sincerely,
Your mother.

The second sentence was all I needed to read, before I started panicking. I had dropped the letter, and I'm sure I looked awful, as I could feel all the blood draining from my face. I tried to control my breathing, but I was so afraid of my mother coming down here to talk to Dumbledore.

"Sirius," I was able to whisper, and when it didn't get his attention I whacked the back of his head with the letter. He turned around, seemingly annoyed at my behavior. "What?"
"Mother. She's coming here," I managed to choke out, my words laced with fear.

"Why?", was the dumb question he decided to ask. Not 'are you ok?' or 'what happened?'
"Because she's mad I was sorted into Gryffindor, so she decided to make Dumbledore change it," was my rushed out sentence.

Sirius hates our mother, and her way of handling things, so we both knew this wasn't going to end well...

Walburga's coming to Hogwarts. How fun. I know this chapter was short, but I've been busy with classes, and haven't had much time to write.

All my love,
L
