Chapter 53

I grab a bowl of popcorn throwing it at Natalie. We rewatch the notebook for the fourth time.

"I don't understand how she is just so.."

"Figured out?" Natalie finishes for me.

"Yeah."

"She doesn't, obviously not satisfied in her love because there's one guy she knows she's destined to," she smiles.

"What about still being depressed about a guy when there's a new voyage to be hoping for," I tell her.

She leans up at her elbows then comes to sit in front of me, "so you're still thinking about him?"

"There's something else.." I try to make up the words to tell her but I decide to go with something else, "I don't know."

"Just don't overthink," she shrugs with a crooked smile.

"Speaking of overthinking, um how did you know that night?" I ask pinching the bridge of my nose.

"What do you mean?"

"That night at the trip, how did you know I went to Kio's room?"

"You told me," she says more like a question.

"No I didn't. Even if I how would I if I was unexpectedly with Kio all night?"

"Look this is what I mean you're over thinking it," she says letting out a breath of air, but I can't ignore it.

"I'm not Nat. Did..did you know?" my words come out cracking.

She stares at me with a blank expression. My face falls, she didn't. After all this, after seeing my pain, again.

"You don't understand," she shakes.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" I yell tears threatening to come out.

"Emma you don't un-"

"I understand completely, how much did he offer?"

"Two thousand," she says, tears coming out.

"Get out," I tell her.

"But Em-"

"Get the fuck out Natalie!"

She grabs her bags and runs out of the room before I fall to the ground. Betrayal, is all I feel. From the two people I cared about the most. It feels as if my whole life has fallen apart, I'm completely broken. Those were my closet connections and they both stabbed me right in the heart. All be because of him, Kio.

I hear a loud bang on the ground and run downstairs to see my mom laying on the ground shaking. I run over to her shaking her but she doesn't focus on me as her eyelids roll up.

After trying to get her to wake up for a few seconds I run over to the house phone and call 991. I stay on the phone while I hold my mom in my hands melting.
