Taking Out the Trash
"Come on, it's not that big of a deal!" #82 persists. However, #79 furiously shakes her head.
"No way! No way, no way, no way!"
"You said you had a headache and you didn't want to go to the infirmary. Why are you so up in arms about the suggestion?!"
"I can just go to class. I can deal with it, it's not too bad!"
"That's completely counterproductive! Just skip, come on what's the big deal!?"
Her friend's words twist #79 into a bunch. Her face becomes hot and burning. She quivers her lip.
Her voice raises in pitch. So much so that, her voice cracks and transforms into a shriek, "Because you would be breaking the rules of course!"
Her cry throws her overboard, and her headache sends another pain her way. This time it's stronger. Her hands clutch her forehead, her weight falls off-center, and she stumbles forward.
#82 catches her.
"Can you walk?" she asks.
"Yeah..."
"We're going to the infirmary. This is worse than I thought," she concludes.
-----------------------------------
"Are you going to go to sleep?" Her friend asks.
"No, I don't want to sleep the day away."
"You should. Oh! You should wait till last period, then fall asleep. Then you wouldn't have to participate in today's cleaning."
"Like I would do that," #79 smiles.
#79 concludes that her friend is certainly a different person from before. Something about it makes her worry, but her friend seems more endearing.
Just then the nurse walks back into the room, a glass of water medicine in hand. She hands #79 a glass of water alongside some pills.
"These are some painkillers, they should soothe your headache," she says.
"Oh um, thank you."
"You're welcome. Are the two of you in the same class? I need to notify your teachers."
Her friend speaks up, "No I'm not, but is it okay if I stay?"
The nurse gazes at the clock quizzically, "You can stay in here until the bell rings. Hurry up and tell me your classes."
#82 tells the nurse their classrooms and soon the two of them are alone again as the nurse exits the room to write an email. She watches #79 take the painkillers. She looks fatigued and stressed. Maybe she's been putting too much pressure on her. With all these sudden changes anyone would get stressed out.
"Why don't we hold off on the mystery?" She says.
#79 looks at her, "Hold off?"
"Just for a couple of days. I think you need a break."
"But..."
"That headache was not ordinary. If you keep going like this it might get worse."
