Katniss awoke solemnly, forgetting where she was. She was in the forest outside of District 12. She then remembered her dream. She dreamt about the Games, Rue, Cinna, President Snow, The Capitol, The Capitol and Coin killing Prim, the whipping of Gale, the bombing in 13, the rebellion, The Mocking Jay, and then it all stopped. The dream turned to her with Peeta, when he threw bread to her in 12, before the Games, finding him at the river, the night she slept in the cave together, the first time they kissed, the night lock berries, winning the Games, The Victor's Tour, when he told her his favorite color was sun set orange, seeing him on the Capitol's interview, him getting beat, seeing him for the first time after he was captured and infected with the Tracker Jacker venom, the time they made the medicine book, the memory book, The night they spent on the roof and in her room before the Games, how he brought her Primroses after Primrose was killed, how he carried her to bed and she asked him "Stay with me," and he replied "Always,".
She had been hunting before and must've fallen asleep. She heard a voice from behind her, a familiar voice. "Hey Catnip, why are you sleeping when there's work to be done?" It was Gale, who recently returned from District 2. "I didn't mean to, it just happens," she replied. "You know what also happens?" He asked. "The animals get away," she said "Right, I need your help to catch them," he told her in a partial serious voice. "Fine!" She exclaimed, while grabbing her bow and getting up. When she got up, she felt dizzy, she released her grip on her bow, and fell to the ground. "Katniss!" She heard Gale yell before she blacked out.
When she awoke, she had a bad headache, but she did feel warm. She turned her head and saw the warm, glowing fire. Then she heard a voice, so calming, so warm, so sweet, it was Peeta's. "Hey, how are you doing?" He asked. "Um, good," she said, even though she wasn't because she still had a bad headache, felt nauseous, and was confused. "What happened?" She asked him. "You fainted, Gale carried you back," he said. "Where is he?" She asked. "He went to go put your bow and arrows up, he'll be back soon," he told her. "How long was I out for?" She asked a few minutes later. "A few hours, we were both worried about you," he told her. "Do you know why I fainted?" She asked. "No, but your mothers is coming to see you," Peeta said. "My mother?" She asked out shock, since she hadn't seen her since the defeat of the Capitol. "Yeah, your mother," Peeta confirmed, in his soft voice.
All of a sudden, the door flung open and in came Gale. "Gale!" She exclaimed, seeing him come through the door. "Hey Catnip, how are you doing?" He asked her, handing her a warm drink. "Good, thanks," she told him. "I brought you something else," Gale said. Then her mother walked through the door. "Mom!" She exclaimed, sitting up to greet her mother. "Hey, and lie back down," she ordered her daughter in a calm manner. "I'm fine," she told her, not wanting her to really know how she felt. "No Katniss, you're not!" Peeta exclaimed. "Yes, I am!" She argued back, trying to convince them that she was. "Let's allow her to get some rest, we can visit tomorrow," said her mother. Everybody left, except Peeta.
Once everybody left, he asked "Are you really okay?" "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She asked. He just shrugged, and kept stroking her hair, which was in its usual braid, as she laid her head on his chest. "I'd better go and let you get some rest," he told her, while starting to get up. "Peeta? "She asked him. "Yeah?" He replied to her as he was getting up. "Stay with me," she said. He laid back down and replied "Always!"
