The next morning, she went downstairs to find that her mother and Peeta were getting the herbs and medicines ready for that day's lesson. "Katniss dear, go get some snow for me please," her mother told her. She grabbed a bowl and headed outside. She gathered the snow and went back in.

"Now then," her mother said. "We are going to make a snow coat," she told them, they just remained silent. "The snow coat will help ease pain, and produce a numbness, you remember from when Gale was whipped by the Capitol," She told them, while she was getting the snow ready. "We also use morphing to ease the pain quicker," she continued. She then took out some sort of doll and placed it on the table. "Pretend this person had just been injured badly, what will you do?" She asked.

"You will quickly put alcohol on any injuries, then you put morphing in a main artery, after you would put a snow coat on the injuries, then cover it with a light weight cloth," Peeta answered. "Good Job!" She told him. "What if someone gets burned?" She asked. "You run it under cool water, as sterile as you can get, and loosely cover with some sort of clean cloth," Katniss said. "Very Good!" Said her mother. "Okay, do you know what to do if someone faints?" She asked, knowing Peeta would know the answer from when she fainted in the bakery when she was pregnant with Prim. "You put something soft under the head, and elevate the feet," he responded. "Good!" Her mother said. "What will you do if someone is not responsive?" She asked, thinking they wouldn't know the answer. "You check to see if they have a pulse, if they do not, you give them CPR, which equals one breath for ever five pushes over the heart," Peeta told her. "How did you know that?" Her mother asked, sounding surprised and proud of him. "Finnick Odair had taught me," he told her, not even mentioning what happened at the pond the other day to keep her from worrying. "Well bless him," she said, to nobody unparticular. "You could also use White Snakeroot," she said.

"Here Katniss," she said, giving her daughter some herbs and some sort of liquid. "What is it?" Peeta asked. "She is going to make a medicine to help prevent nausea," She told her. I recognized the ingredients. There was some Golden thread (Canker Root), Creeping Wood-Sorrel, Lobelia, Spearmint, Columbo Root, and Common Ragweed. "Okay, you are going to grind the medicine, and add it into this," her mother said, handing the liquid to her. "What's the liquid?" She asked her mother. "Vanilla," Peeta answered. "Where did you get it?" She asked her mother. "Peeta gave it to me," she told her. Katniss grounded up her herbs and poured in some vanilla. "Okay, now you are going to put some water in, and then you are going to put it over a fire. Let it boil for about seven to ten minutes," her mother told them. After it was done boiling, she taught them how to preserve it, "Okay, now that your remedy has become a tea, you are going to put in a vile, and put a cork in it, after you can stick it in a cabinet to keep it safe. That concludes today's lesson," she said.

"I'm going to go hunt, I'll be back later," Katniss said. "Oh Katniss, here take this, I made a copy of one for you and Peeta," she said, handing her a book. It was a book of all the medical plants and herbs and how they can be used and there were even recipes. "Thanks," she said, sticking the book in her game bag. She swung her bag over her shoulder and headed out to the forest.

She arrived to the fence and ducked under. She went to go find her bow, when she heard a noise behind her. She quickly whipped around to see something run. It was too fast for her to tell what it was, but she could tell that it was too big to be an animal so she figured that it was a human. "Who's there?" She asked the person, there was no answer. "Who's there?" She asked again, but still there was no answer. The person was hiding behind a tree. Katniss approached the tree hesitantly. She prepared around the tree, think it maybe Gale or Peeta, but instead there was a girl, no older than twelve. She had brown hair, brown eyes, her clothe looked like they were from 12, and her hair was in two braids, like her's was when she was that age.

"Hi, I'm Meadow," the girl told her. "I'm Katniss, I've never seen you before," she told the girl. "No, you wouldn't have," the girl told her. "And why's that?" Katniss asked. "Because," the girl told her. "Well do you have any siblings?" Katniss asked. "Yeah, a sister, Willow," the girl said. "Where are you from?" Katniss asked her. "I'm from 6, the Capitol is resurrecting and they invaded six, so I ran away and ended up here, I wanted to learn, learn from you," Meadow told her. "What do you mean by resurrecting?" She asked. "Well, the Capitol is trying to regain power and they are trying to make people full of fear so they can concur them as easily this time, not at all. I want to learn from you so I can defeat the Capitol with you," Meadow told her.

"Where are you staying?" She asked her. "In the woods," Meadow said. "You can stay with Peeta and me," Katniss said. "Thank you!" Meadow exclaimed. "I'll go get my sister," She told Katniss. "What about your parents?" Katniss asked. "The Capitol killed them because they were resisting arrest," Meadow said. "What did they do?" Katniss asked. "Nothing," she said. "How old is your sister?" Katniss asked. "Eight," said Meadow. "Does she want to learn how to hunt also?" Katniss asked. "No, she wants to learn how to cook and bake like Peeta," Meadow said. "She also wants to learn medicine from Prim," Meadow continued. "Prim's dead," Katniss said. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear," Meadow said sympathetically. "But my mom can teach her medicine, she's giving me and Peeta classes, so she could join us," she said to Meadow. "She'll love that," she said. "You can come if you like also," Katniss offered. "Okay," Meadow said. "Let me go get my sister. Would you like to come?" Meadow offered. "Sure!" Katniss said. "Come on, let's go then," Meadow said. They went past the pond and went to the little worn down brick building that she had been to before.

"Hey Willow, I brought somebody, somebody who can help, Katniss Everdeen," She told him, entering from the doorway. Sitting in the corner was a blond hair girl with green eyes, she also looked like she was wearing the worn clothe from 12. She seemed a little scared and shy. She approached Katniss sheepishly, "Hello!" She said, partly hiding behind Meadow. "She's okay," Meadow said. "She's the one who won The Hunger Games twice, and defeated the Capitol," Meadow continued to tell her. "Her mother is going to teach you medicine, and Peeta will teach you how to bake," said Meadow "Really?" She asked unsurely, still hiding behind Meadow. "Yes," Meadow told him calm and quietly.

"Hello Willow, I won't hurt you, and I'll make your sure you'll stay safe. I'll even find you a home if you want," Katniss said. "Really!" She said excitedly. "Thank you!" Meadow said. Willow ran and gave her a hug. "Until then, you can stay at my and Peeta's house," Katniss said. "Can you teach me to sing also, I saw you sing to the girl from District 11 when she died in the 74th Hunger Games?" Meadow asked. "Sure!" Katniss said, giving Meadow a little smile. "Come on, let's go back to the house," Katniss said.
