They arrived at the training center and found that everybody was waiting on them. The first person Meadow saw was Larch. "Larch!" She yelled as she ran up and gave him a hug. "Meadow!" he said, picking her up and swinging her around.
When he put her down, she looked at his leg and saw the burn, "What happened?" She asked. "Nothing, I'm fine!" He told her, not wanting to worry her. "Larch, what happened?" She asked in a more serious voice. "Romulus set Cypress's house on fire and I got to close to a flame and I caught fire, but it's better now, Peeta healed it," he told her. "It's not totally healed, but it should be in a few days," Peeta told them.
Then Cypress came and gave her a hug, "I'm glad you are okay," he said. "I'm glad that you both are okay," she told them.
"Okay, we need to start our training," Haymitch said, walking into the room. Everybody all lined up into a straight line. "Okay we are going to start out with something simple, tell me your name and your talent or abilities," Haymitch told them.
"I'm Brier and I have strength and I'm good with any weapon, except a bow and arrow," Brier said. "I'm Rogue and I have speed and strength, I can climb trees, gather berries, and my weapon is a knife," Rogue told him. "I'm Cornel and I have intelligence, I'm sneaky, I'm good at code cracking, trap making, hacking, rewiring things, starting fires, and making weapons and my weapon is my brain and anything I'm able to make traps with," Cornel said. "Okay, you are useful," Haymitch told him.
"I'm Enobaria and my weapons are my teeth, a knife, and a sword," she said, showing off her teeth to him, which Katniss thinks scared Haymitch a bit. "I'll stay away from you!" He told her. "I'm Beetee and I have intelligence and my weapons are wire and technology," Beetee said. "I'm Katniss and I'm good at hunting, I can use a snare, and I've been practicing medicine," Katniss said. "I'm Peeta and I'm strong and I can bake, I can paint, and I've been taking a medicine class, my weapons are spears, weights, knives, and camouflage," Peeta said. "I'm Gale, I can hunt my weapons are snares, bombs, and bows and arrows," Gale said. Then Katniss and Peeta looked at Larch, Cypress, and Meadow.
"I am Larch and I am strong, fast, I can hunt, I can hunt and my weapons are a sword, strength, knives, and self-defense," Larch said. "I'm Cypress, I have speed and strength, my weapons are strength, I can climb trees, I also know self-defense, I can make camouflage and traps," Cypress said. "I'm Meadow and I can do it all, everything they mention I can do, well except rewiring" she said. "You are really handy!" Haymitch told her.
Katniss watched as Haymitch pace up and down the line of tributes, talking. "Everything you have known about any of the games won't be useful. There are no mentors, you won't be killing each other, and you will be training harder than you ever have before. There still be rating and sponsors. There still will be a reaping, two of you won't be going to the games, we will need you to sponsor us," Haymitch told them, who just stood there listening.
"The twelve of you in the games will represent the 12 Districts, not including 13, defeating the Capitol and that the Districts are stronger," Haymitch continued. He continued pacing, but stopped in front of Katniss and looked her directly in the eyes and said, "Remember who the real enemy is!" She knew he was no longer implying everybody, but just her.
After they all got to know each other better, they started on some work outs. They trained in small groups, no bigger than 2 or 3 people.
