6- Bowling

"doctor! doctor, wake up!"
the doctor groaned and opened her eyes to find yaz's face inches from hers. startled, she jerked uowards, headbutting yaz.
"ow! careful!" yaz said, rubbing her forehead.
"dont scare me like that!"
"i didnt scare you"
"you were practically on top of me"
"i-" Yaz was cut off by najia walking in to announce breakfast was ready.
"breakfast!" the doctor jumped up, running to the door, nearly tripping over her bed in the process.
"careful"
"i am being careful, yaz"
"ok, if you say so" yaz replied.

walking into the kitchen, the doctor's face lit up at the sight of the stack of pancakes on the table.
"PANCAKES!" she squealed, as yaz and sonya walked in.
"its just pancakes, now need to be so excited" said sonya
"leave her alone" yaz shot an angry look at sonya, to which sonya sighed and sat at the table, helping herself to a pancake and some fruit.

the doctor piled an arrange of different fruits onto her pancake, and began to pour maple syrup on too.
"you're going to make yourself sick" najia said.
"i wont, Yaz's mum, i promise"
"ok. dont come crying to me when you feel sick"
"i wont"
Najia sighed and began putting various fruits onto her pancake too.
"now YOU'RE going to be sick" the Doctor said.
"i definitely wont, thank you" najia replied, smiling.
Yaz walked back into the room and sat at the table. Sonya mumbled morning to her, to which she did the same.

"can we do something today, Yaz?"
"actually, we already have something planned."
"really? what?"
"we're going bowling!"
The Doctor furrowed her brow with confusion, "whats that?"
"you dont know what bowling is?"
"no, i dont"
"surely you've heard of bowling! you're 2000!"
"yeah, i am, but i havent got a clue what it is!"
"well. bowling is where you throw, or bowl, a ball down a lane to knock some pins over"
"oh. that sounds weird."
"coming from the alien with a box"
"fine. ok. are we meeting Graham and Ryan?"
"yep"

The Doctor stared in awe at the bright lights, the different lanes, and the little boothes to sit in. Running over to where they were going to be playing, she began inspecting the different coloured balls, scanning them with her sonic and testing their weights. Ryan followed whilst Graham and Yaz were getting drinks.
"hey, Yaz is ordering you a slushie, ever had one?"
"no, what is it?"
"its like, uh, its like juice and ice mixed together"
"oooh that sounds nice!"
"they really are"

Waiting for Graham and Yaz to join them, the Doctor wandered over to the sweet dispensers, fiddling with the knobs and buttons. She pulled her sonic out, and, hiding it up her sleeve, made the machine dispense twice the amount of sweets as usual. Scooping them into her hands, she walked back to their lane to find Graham and Yaz had got the drinks.
"Doc, you're first" said Graham
"ok, but i need somewhere to put my sweets"
"here" Graham passed her a tub, and she poured them in, "do you know what to do?"
"i think so"
"ok, go ahead"
The Doctor picked up a medium sized yellow ball, and began walking towards the lane. Not stopping, she continued walking down the polished lane, preparing to knock them over with her ball.
"Doctor! Come back, you cant go down there, you have to go from here!" Yaz called
"oh, really? thats annoying" she said, backing back to the end of the lane. swinging her arm forward, she let go of the ball. it glided down the polished lane, and knocked 4 pins over, leaving 6.
"why didnt they all fall?" she said, clearly annoyed she hadn't knocked them all over.
"its hard, 4's good for your first try, and you get to get a second go now." Yaz said
The Doctor bowled the ball, and knocked the remaining 6 over. the overhead screen lit up, announcing she had scored a spare.

After an hour, the fam had taken all their goes. the scoreboard lit up, announcing that Graham had came first.
"see, told you i still had it," he said, nudging Ryan.
"i came third! yay!" the Doctor said, a smile on her face.
"well done" Graham replied.

The walked out of the bowling place, to find that the sun had set during their time their. Ryan and Graham said goodbye to Yaz and the Doctor, who were going to a pizza place to meet Najia, Hakim and Sonya. The Doctor followed Yaz down the various paths and short cuts, a smile on her face from the fun they'd had that day.
