The bell had finally rung for our lunch break. The class had been extremely tiring today, not to mention my parents were putting me on a strict diet to help me lose weight. I was starving especially since I was tall and people like me (wolves) had to eat more than normal. I hadn't seen Will which was honestly a little nice. He had caused me a lot of stress in just one day. I walked to the cafeteria to get my lunch which today was chicken sandwiches, which are my favorite meals they serve here.

"Hey did you hear about the race that's going on after school?"

"Yeah, Yuki's totally going to win."

"No way. Zane's gotten been working everyday man he's beaten everyone who even stood the slightest bit of a chance against her."

"So what? when it comes down to he still can't really par core like she can. Hell, he won't even come into the finish line until at least a minute after she's done."

"Bet on it then?"

"Oh, I got twenty on it."

I overheard two kids talking. -There must be a CS today after school- I thought as I grabbed my food and walked off.

-Wait ... Yuki's racing!- I thought.

The thought hit me like a truck. I hadn't even realized that she was racing after they tried to jump her last time. I started speed walking to with my lunch to go out to the spot I usually eat at. I couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't told me.

I had to talk to her about this especially since I wouldn't be able to help her this time. As I walked quickly around a corner my eyes witnessed a brutal sight. William was on the ground as a bunch of kids stomped and kicked him.

"Stop," a girly voice shouted. I looked over to see Zane, the schools' star track runner standing with a foot on a girl's pink-haired head.

"What are you doing, trying to protect him?", Zane asked, "Don't tell me you like him, you freak," he said with a cocky voice as sneered at the weaker teenager beneath him.

"Hey Zane," I said in a friendly voice.

He seemed to freeze, although he was a rising senior star and I was a rising junior basketball star. At this school the stars were seen as kings, leading them to have gangs.

"Hey Caleb," he said, "What's a fellow star doing here."

"Right now, wondering what you the fuck think you're doing."

It was clear that he was nervous as I glared at him. "Well, you see ... the goat thought it would be a good idea to protect this idiot here, even though this little pink scrub was the one decided to tell a teacher on-"

"So you thought that beating ... both of them up ... would solve that help? I've already managed to make an example of you and the football team before ... don't make me do it again"

Zane stared at me with a burning disgust in his eye. "Let them go," I ordered, "now."

William looked at me confused as Zane told his men to back off as he walked past me. The rest soon followed and one of them, thinking he was slick, threw a piece of paper at the back of my head. I stood there for a second before grabbing my apple from my tray and turn around throwing the apple like a baseball. It flew threw the air right past the brat's head and exploded on the locker behind him. He then took off running before I could do anything else.
