(divided into parts, this story is quite long, probably the longest oneshot I've ever made. enjoy :))
"oh my god, she took me to the sky.
oh my god, she showed me all the stars."The wind a through seoul on a cold, rainy night, as one lonely girl walked on the streets of the city, an umbrella over her head as she wore a snug hoodie and insulated pants, trying to get away from the cold. the woman walked quietly, towards her destination, a blank stare on her eyes as she looked upon the other bystanders with no emotion, continuing on her way as quietly as possible, not disturbing others.
her grip on the handle of the umbrella was strong, tight, reflecting the grasp she had on her life, which was going on as she had planned, at least. going to school, putting on a nice girl facade, learning things she had known already for a long time, trying to blend in a bunch of stormy and chaotic college students heading towards their definite career, and she wished one time that she could be like them. but no, destiny plays an astounding trick, as she found herself repeating the five years of her life over and over again.
she looked to be twenty two, at least. on her twenty seventh birthday, she always found herself waking up to be twenty two again, but she realizes that a a couple of years had passed. everyone she interacted with in her life she would never find again, and she would wake up to be twenty two again. she didn't know how it started; she just found herself in an endless loop, like a broken record playing over and over, with no end.
over time she had learned to keep track of the tide of time; she kept up with the trends of the new worlds she was constantly submerged in, adapting to swim to the harsh flow of time's waters. but as she finally learned how to swim on that tide, as she finally memorized the routines of that life, she is snatched away and submerged into another pool; she found five years to be either too fast or too slow, depending on the life she had decided to live each time.
on why it was happening, jeon soyeon had no idea, but she had managed to keep herself from getting attached to people.
she only had one year before the cycle resets, and she wanted to keep it that way; she didn't want to hurt herself again.
"one year... I hope this is my last year." soyeon said to herself as she got home, repeating the same statement for a hundredth time or more, or maybe she hadn't kept track of how many years she was exactly living.
she sat down on her couch, putting on her favourite movie of that life, smiling and laughing along the comedy as she ate on some snacks she had learn to love in the four years she was living.
a knock had disturbed her peaceful state, as she dropped the bag of snacks on the center table and grumpily opened the door, revealing the most beautiful girl she had ever seen in the multiple lives she had, as she stared at the girl who was smiling at her--
"hello, I am song yuqi, nice to meet you!" the girl cheerily said, a plate of rice cakes on her palms, slowly pushing the plate to soyeon, who was still staring at the girl.
"uh... hello?" yuqi said, as soyeon embarrassedly broke from the trance she was in and managed to smile (an awkward smile) to the girl, as the new girl chuckled and put the plate onto soyeon's hands.
"I'm kind of new here... I hope we can be friends!" yuqi said, as soyeon smiled, closing the door as the girl left.
the plate full of rice cakes on her hand, she widened her eyes, surprised with herself as she hadn't acted like that before; out of impulse, not logically. jeon soyeon was never like that; she was a woman of calculative nature, always thinking first before deciding to act, and always having a firm grasp on her life-- lives --, but why did all that crumble when she saw that girl? why did she turn into an embarrassed, awkward teenage girl upon seeing her crush before her? where did that calculative logic go?
