Falling for You

I was woken up by a beam of sunshine that peeped in through the small gaps between the curtain Infront of the bed. My head was resting on Kev's biceps and I could feel his warmth over my belly. His head was kissing my hair, which fluttered as he gently breathed. I got up and walked towards the window and opened the curtains.

The sight I saw next is unarguably the best sunrise I ever saw in my whole life. The sun was just rising from below the sea and the sky was a beautiful blend of vibrant colours. I could hear the waves crash to the shore and children trodding on the wet sand. I saw the silhouette of the large palm trees whose large leaves were cradled by the gentle breeze which then drifted past me.

I quickly walked back and woke up Kev. As he got up and walked to the window I saw his eyebrows raise and could read a wow in his face. I wondered if he saw it in even more serenity than I did. Then I was embarrassed when I noticed his gargantuan morning wood.

"Cover up Kev!"

He chuckled and wore a pair of shorts while I went to brush my teeth.

He took us to a café at the end of the street and seated us on the table hardest to reach.

"The scenes are always the best from here."

I agreed.

As we munched our breakfast and Kev brought up some chit chats, I was wondering if he still remembered the previous night. I felt that even if it still dwelled in his mind, he would not mention it ever again. Unexpectedly, he did.

"Amour, I'm really sorry for my rude and abusive actions from yesterday. I can't believe you're still sitting here with me despite..." he paused

"I thought you'd forgotten it already. You were drunk. People do all sorts of things when they're hung over. And you apologised plenty yesterday."

He saw the pain in my eyes and continued,"Being drunk doesn't give me a free pass to do anything. I know what I did was unforgivable and I have scarred you for..."

I interrupted,"We can talk about this later if you really want to. I don't want to ruin our vacation, Kev."

He agreed.

As we emptied our plates and cups, we headed back to the beach. I layed down on the edge dipping my feet in the brine. Kev slowly walked into the water and stopped when it had surpassed his knees. He placed his hands on his waist and took a look around the sea while I checked him out.

I never realised how muscular his back was. The groove of his spine guided my eyes to his back dimples which just peeked out of his black shorts with stars scattered all over it. As I secretly admired his gorgeous butt, I didn't realise his gaze had shifted from the scenery to me.

"Mon Amour, are you star gazing?" he giggled.

I blushed as he neared me and pulled me into the water. He swam farther away as I chased him. I felt my heart beating as the waves hit me as I tried to swim against them. He took us farther into the sea where the shore was no longer visible. He came closer to me and grabbed me.

"Inhale!"

I immediately sank under the sea and felt his hands still pushing me down. I was in the aquatic world again. I slowly opened my eyes and realised there was no land within my vision. Only water and him. He was freely floating with his hands still pressing on my shoulders. Then he opened his eyes too. We smiled at each other. Then he enveloped me into his arms. I could still feel his warmth warding off the cold of the seawater. I felt for a brief moment that he loved me, dearly.

Suddenly, Kev pulled us out of water. As he rapidly breathed I overjoyed,"You lost again, Kev!"

"What?"

"You pulled us out. You lost!"

"I thought you'd passed away. You weren't moving. I had to come up."

"Stop making silly excuses and admit it," I argued.

He smiled at me and came closer to me. Again, I found myself in his nourishing warmth.

"Wish life was always like this..." I gasped

"Me too," he stated, "But we need to return. We'll require food. And I'm hungry already."

I chortled as he pulled me back towards the coast and to another restaurant. I really liked Hawaiian food. It tasted like the beach.

He took us for a surf then. I tripped over a lot of times but his empowering voice gave me courage. Soon I could surf against the waves. We didn't realize when the sun lost its altitude until it was about to dip into the horizon. We sat under a palm tree to behold the beautiful sunset. He started gossiping as usual and I giggled, nodded and smiled. As the stars emerged from the dark sky, we layed on the moist sand pointing out constellations.

"You know what we're doing Luc?"

"I prefer the other name, Kev."

"Stargazing, Mon Amour!" He laughed out.

I chuckled too. Then suddenly, I felt as if he was staring into my soul though my dark eyes. Suddenly, his fingers were under my chin and his lips were just seconds away from kissing me. I could feel his heat flow to me as his lips touched mine. I snapped out and immediately pushed him away. He snapped out too. Maybe he was missing his ex. That was what I thought until he whispered,"I think you're turning me!"

It felt surreal to me. Awkward. I felt like he was falling for me while a voice in my mind whispered that he was thinking I was his ex.

"It's so chill out here," I heard him say.

I nodded back. He started another round of gossips. We were interrupted by a camera flash from behind us.

"Sorry, you guys were looking so adorable," said a fairly young lady. We smiled as she took another picture of us and he wrapped his arms around me for another.

"You guys are such a cute couple!"

"We're just friends," I informed her as Kev laughed.

"Oh! I'm sorry. You guys are so close."

"Don't worry, I mistake us for a couple sometimes too," he smiled from ear to ear. I'm not sure what he meant. If he actually confessed or was just joking.

The lady introduced us to her family who were sitting in a bar nearby. Her husband was really polite and her two daughters, Mahalia and Jasmine, were always smiling. They insisted we'd spend the night with them. They offered us drinks and I made sure Kev didn't get drunk again. They also asked us to join them in their tour of the islands the next day. We agreed.
