Mrs. Beeker quietly unlocked and opened her front door, walking light on her feet. However, she wasn't surprised to see her daughter, Wren Beeker, waiting patiently on their couch.

It'd been a year since the oldest Beeker daughter died, yet the family couldn't seem to get over it. Especially Wren, as she and her sister were connected at the hip from birth. Now, it was just her and their brother, Kenzic.

"Hello sweetie." Mrs. Beeker smiled and kissed Wren's forehead.

"Hi mom, I made sure dad got to sleep fine." Wren whispered.

'that man is such an insomniac...' chuckled Mrs. Beeker silently. She gave Wren a hug and kiss good night before shooing her to bed. Walking to the kitchen, she got a snack and went to bed herself.

She didn't expect what she found.

The Beekers' house was a quiet one, especially in the morning. The children and father all shared one common trait.

A 'fuck that, fuck this, fuck mornings' attitude.

They all got up, had their share of coffee, and started getting ready. The father worked on the cameras and equipment at his wife's news agency. The children were both in high school, Kenzic in his last year and Wren in her second.

Today was a normal enough morning. Coffee in their hands, the Beekers (minus the wife) headed out for school or work. Kenzic shared most of his mother's personality, and talked the entire walk to school.

"Just think about it, Mindfucker, excuse my language, would make such a great hero! And their partner too maybe! Maybe they could work with medics or something, but they could do something great! Blah blah blah blah..."

To Wren, her brother's morning talk was background noise. Though she couldn't help but smile, the topic was of the norm, the vigilante Mindfucker.

Eventually, they arrived at school, but someone blocked their way.

"Oh hey you're that hero in training in year two! Mirgan Warson, right?" Kenzic smiled wide at the younger hero in training.

Oh yea, Kenzic is just a school year away from being a proper hero.

"Yes, I assume you're Kenzic and Wren Beeker, correct?" Mirgan smiled.

Wren sighed heavily while Kenzic and Mirgan started talking. At that moment, Wren wished she had a cliché best friend to pull her to the side and gossip. Instead, her brother decided to aggravate a sleeping beast by adding her into the conversation.

"Sorry for Wren here, she only interacts with our family and the rare lucky person." Kenzic threw his arm around his sister's shoulders.

"Oh I know. Our two classes once did a rescue hero exercise. A few of my friends said they tried to save her, but she scared them off when they tried to touch her." Mirgan laughed.
