Stretching out my legs, I sighed in relief as I felt the tension all but dissipate. I had taken it upon myself to take a lone stroll, away from the wondering eyes and ears of my pack. Sometimes I enjoy the serenity and peacefulness of being by myself.

A strong breeze entangled itself within my fur, rustling the tree leaves above. As the wind reached my nose my body instinctively stood attentive. I took a deep breath savoring the sweet irresistible scent which seemed to pull at my heart strings. Without command or warning my body lurched forward following the foreign yet comforting smell. I ran with a yearning I have never felt before. It felt as though my life depended on whatever was at the end of this trail I was following without hesitation. As my paws padded on the cool earth underneath me, I could only think one work in mind, repeating it like a mantra... mate.

"This is BULLSHIT" I aggressively whispered to myself staring at the blank paper of my computer screen. Having had writers block for approximately three days, I decided that spending a day outside writing would help clear the funk I had found myself in. However, sitting on a lonely bench in what I thought was a quiet unassuming park turned out to be the exact opposite of what I was hoping for. Instead of being graced with mental clarity, I was instead presented with the sound of dogs barking, families bickering, and birds persistently chirping. Honestly, I was prepared for the bird part, the other two however were just getting on my nerves.

I placed my laptop next to me and put my head into my hands in a sign of defeat and let out a sigh. A gust of wind blew through my hair making me shiver. I guess in hind sight my cardigan peppered with holes was not the best choice of clothing to wear on an early fall morning.

Suddenly my phone vibrated in my back pocket signaling that I was receiving a phone call.

I let out another frustrated sigh and grabbed it out of my pocket. I glanced at the caller id to see who was trying to reach me. Sehun. I smiled slightly, welcoming the distraction but also chuckled nervously to myself. Sehun had been my manager during my ever growing career as a self-employed writer. Over the years we had worked together we quickly became close friends. He slowly but surely became much more of a friend rather than someone who I worked with.

"Hey there" I answered smiling to myself

"Hey y/n. Just calling to check in with you. How's the writing going?"

I groaned .

"It's not going at all. I tried going outside like a normal person for once but again nature seems to be against me. I can't concentrate even out here".

I heard his muffled chuckle through the phone.

"Well what do you expect, it's getting close to Halloween, you know how crazy this town goes for that day. It's like the equivalent to Christmas. People are probably getting decoration and festivities in sorts. They like to start preparing weeks in advance".

"Yeah I guess you're right I didn't even think about that" I said now looking around the park observing the people present. They were planting tiny signs painted with various Halloween-esque things such as bats, vampires, and werewolves.

"I'm surprised you forgot honestly. Miya hasn't shut up about it since a week ago" .

I playfully rolled my eyes. Miya was my best friend. I would describe her as a true holistic hippie with a pinch of batshit crazy. The girl goes absolutely crazy over Halloween. Is she could have a Groundhog Day moment and relive Halloween every day, she would in a heart beat. Every year her  family throws a huge get together where everyone from our town joins to have fun and party.
