Night
City StreetsSomewhere in the city streets, there stood a young lady waiting for her prey. Once she found him, she activated her ability.
"I found you." There was nothing left, not even a strand of his hair. With a satisfied work, the young lady left the vicinity and walked home.
'This is my job. I who killed 35.'
Apartment
HinatsuriI came home that night. Brother was not yet around so I showered and ate. It was already late so I decided to sleep. He will come home soon. He always does.
The next morning, I found no trace of him. Atsushi called and I told him that brother had not gone home. He could not have been missing is he? He had a lot of enemies around so it was not a surprise to know that he was kidnapped or something, but he will not let himself die, right? Even if he was a suicidal maniac, leaving me like this is... like a torture.
"Sa—Dazai-san, you will not be killed, right? You still have things to do." I muttered. I left for school with the same emptiness within me.
The noise around turned to static. It was painful, but I knew I had to endure. It was how the society works. Clutter, pitter patter and a swoosh. Sounds that surrounded me echoed like an annoying timbre. Once I reached school, I acted like nothing happened and put on a mask.
"Good morning." The class representative greeted. I smiled back and greeted her. I had the whole class with them so I will finish by 5 P.M. today. It should be enough to take my mind off things. It should have been enough. However, throughout the day, I was left with nothing but the same emptiness.
I took the long way home and did not visit the Agency. There was no need for me to. Dazai-san did not even contact me. The others probably thought nothing about it as well. I strolled down the city and watched the others buy and sell things. I ended buying a couple of melon bread. It was just the best.
It was until I turned around the corner that I failed to see the person in front of me. It was the same man in the alleyway battling Atsushi. Akutagawa Ryunosuke. His blank dark eyes glared at me while I stare back. There was silence between us until he asked me who I was. Not obliged to answer him, I turned around and left him hanging. It was then that I felt a killing intent racing towards me. Rashomon.
"Don't you dare turn your back on me." He threatened. It was... nothing. I took out my knife and dashed towards him. He dodged every attempt while he ordered Rashomon to pierce me. I took out my gun and finally did it.
"I will never be obliged to answer you." I fired three bullets while keeping Rashomon at bay. It pierced his arms and chest. He will not die with just that, but it will be enough to immobilize him for sometime. It was then that I left the young man to continue on my way home.
"You bitch. I told you to never turn your back on me. Kill her, Rashomon." He was persistent. Maybe a blow on the head will do. I raced back and kicked the back of his head. He never anticipated that speed of mine. It was because I never liked combat unless it was to protect somebody. Father did not want me to bloody my hands. There was no necessity he said.
'I will keep that promise until I need to shed blood on my own accord.' He was down. I called his assistant for him to be taken. With that, I went out of the public's eyes. What I did not notice was the smirk of the person above.
"I finally found you, but it is still not yet the time. You are not yet ready to be taken back."
The next day, I went to ADA and met the person they rescued. Her name was Kyouka Izumi. We were about the same age so we got along well. She told me about how Atsushi saved her from the bomb and herself. I praised Atsushi for his commendable acts of bravery. Blushing from too much compliments, he decided to ask if Dazai-san had come home.
