The Girl With a Guitar

1. Welcome to my life

I'm Audrey Garcia, not named after the actress, bet you haven't heard of her though, I only know of her because I googl- my dad told me about her..

Anyway, my life. My mum is Spanish, my dad is Australian through and through. I have a brother named Michael and he's in his 20s and he's my only biological sibling. I've got 3 next door neighbours and we're practically siblings, they're as annoying as I'd imagine siblings to be.

I was in the school ukulele group for about a year and a half, till I surpassed the stupid age limit.

I say a year and a half, though it's probably less than that.
I would've been in it for 2 years if I didn't have to have surgery on my wrist, that took most of the year to recover to be able to play again, I'm still gaining strength now, 2 years since my first if 2 surgeries.

I first started playing guitar for music in school, I'd say I'm pretty good, hell, I played the last post this ANZAC day! I've still got a long way to go before I get to Jimi Hendrix-level good though.

I've loved guitar since I first strummed those six very out-of-tune strings at school, the only place I could play. Since then, I've grown a little collection, a classic acoustic and a Fender electric guitar (featured in the book cover), that I added to my little collection of ukuleles, a concert and a soprano.

My music taste is very very varied, which sounds super weird to say fast (bet you just tried it), ranging from Linkin Park to 5 Seconds of Summer and Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Shawn Mendes, with some Hilltop Hoods thrown into the mix. I recommend listening to at least one of each of those artist's songs.

I'm in year 10, so I've got electives. This year for my 100 hour I chose pastry chef, and last year for 200 hour I chose music.

So far, you probably think I'm some weird rando girl that's obsessed with music and that's all, but that's so not true, I have an amazing personality if I do say so myself, always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh, even in the worst situations, it's how I cope.

I actually really enjoy school, especially science and of course music.
But I'm not some goody two shoes either, I do break some small rules though I like to keep a decently clean record so I don't jeopardise my future career choices.
For a couple examples, I swear - OH NO! I constantly use my phone in class, sneakily listen to music, I can get kinda violent and pretty mean if I'm in a shitty mood, or if you piss me off, which is getting easier to do lately.

I've got a pretty good relationship with my mum, Mariana Garcia, my dad took my mum's name, I think it was to impress her parents or something, I'm not sure. My mum knows her place, I guess, she doesn't push too hard and she treats me with respect. Though if she's really mad she'll get a shoe or anything close by and throw it at whoever she's yelling Spanish at.
My dad, Casper, often called Ghosty Boy by the whole neighbourhood and then some, is pretty chill. He's the less strict one, even though my mum isn't that bad, I can get away with virtually anything with him, it's amazing.

You can tell where my first middle name came from, Mariana, Casper, BOOM! Marcia, I actually really like it, my second is also Spanish, Sofía. Full name: Audrey Marcia Sofía Garcia, a long name with alot of "ia's".

We're almost done with this introduction, I swear 😅

I'll quickly sum up the rest : I stay up really late but I love my sleep, like I love my food, I am pretty decently popular in general, more so in music, and most classes actually, though that's just so people can copy my notes, but in music class I'm actually popular because I'm good. I have a few main friends at school, Abigail, Lilith, and the one that Abigail and Lilith seem to revolve around, Katrina, I don't hate her or anything, she's actually really nice but Abigail and Lilith always choose her over me, like I'm nothing when she's around, I guess it's kinda like I'm the moon, revolving around them, the Earth, while they revolve around the sun, Kat.

That is pretty much everything, all the things I forgot, I'll tell you when the time comes because obviously it's not that important right now.

Wow! That was quite the introduction, next part will be a proper part of the story.
