The sun was shining in my face and I woke up to someone in my guest room jumping on the bed like a big ass kid. I rolled over to see Drea smiling hard in my face like she hit the lottery or something. I didn't know how to explain what I couldn't remember last night but I was embarrassed. Still I cracked open my eyes and tried to hide my smile. Drea walked over to the open room door and closed it.
"Happy birthday bitch so how was it after all?"
Sitting up in the bed I sat up rubbing my hand across my face before trying to explain. It was my birthday and traditionally I would be with my dad but he wanted to meet at the club for my birthday bash tonight. The more I thought to explain I couldn't remember anything but smelled bacon coming from the kitchen.
"Hold that thought real quick."
I told her while heading downstairs to my kitchen to see Derek in his blue basketball shorts and a tight muscle shirt that showed his muscles. He was cooking breakfast and Ko was at the bar talking to him as he scrabbles eggs and fried the bacon in a frying pan. The whole thing threw me off because last night Phil went home and I locked my door. But I recalled a duffle bag in the chair and Derek scent all over me and my sheets. They both stopped talking when I walked in with Drea behind me.
"Well happy birthday boss lady Ko said."
"Well I didn't know it was your birthday. But happy birthday beautiful Derek said."
"Thank y'all but Derek can we talk alone real quick while Drea take over?"
Derek gestured for Drea to take over while Derek followed me to the living room. He was more muscular underneath all his work clothes and his sweats he normally wore when he was around. He came up to me and hugged me from behind. Caught off guard I hugged him back in compliment still confused.
"Derek did we do something last night?"
"Almost but no we didn't you was feeling good. I wanted to if you mind me saying but I wanted you to remember if we did."
I raked my hair with my hand to get it out my face. Feeling someone's eyes on us I look to see Drea being nosey.
"Damn D now she still gone be on our ass at work!"
Derek passed Drea headed to the kitchen talking cocky.
"Well if she wasn't drunk I would've but when we do I know she'll tell you because it'll be worth telling."
After eating breakfast Drea and Ko said they'll meet me at my birthday bash. We headed to the kitchen and cleaned up. I washed the dishes and Derek rinsed and dryed them. He was quiet after our conversation earlier I just had to clear the air handing him a plate I washed.
"So you not gone talk to me. Right now I don't know if you mad that we fucked or the fact we didn't?"
"No I just got a lot on my mind right now...."
We was finally finished with dishes so I went in the living room and woke up to a ringing of my doorbell. Before I could get to the door Derek answered. A man was outside with roses he took them and put them on the table by the door. When he saw me he told me someone sent me roses and walked off. When I looked at the card it read count your days love Haven. I picked up the roses and went all over the houses looking for Derek. He was sitting with his feet in the pool rolling a blunt. When I sat down he didn't look at me. So I bumped him.
"Derek what's wrong."
He put his blunt down and grabbed my hands. He held them close to his chest as though he wanted me to feel his heart beat. But instead he slide my hand down to his scar.
"Dani this incident could've end my life and I'm grateful for you saving me. First Omar is out to get me and you seen my place. And now Rosa possibly was to they both work for a man who could've sent me to jail and may now want to kill me so I'm mad. Mad because I don't know how much longer I can keep on this path. So tonight I want to chill and after I want to keep you safe by distancing myself."
Nodding my head I agreed because I like him and had to let him go. He got up and told me to go get dress and we would go wherever I wanted. Time was flying as we headed from the mall to a jewelry store. Once we go inside I looked at some things and my eyes landed on a diamond necklace. But instead I chose a bracelet that would compliment my attire tonight. Finally after a day of shopping Derek took me to a nice restaurant uptown. We ate lunch and watched the scenery of people around us. Derek stared at me before leaning in for a kiss. This time I didn't resist it was worth waiting on. I wanted to kiss him for so long now it was finally happening and it was sweet. Before I knew it we'd been sitting for three hours talking. Than we headed to his car and before taking off he took a picture of me. Along the way home my phone buzzed with messages and notifications from instagram. Opening my phone to Derek picture he took of me on his page.

The last comment is what fucked me up. My eyes zoomed in right on her name. I didn't know what to do but get back at her. Every interaction was a mistake and mines with hers gone be real ugly when I see her again. She can try all she want but she's mistaken. After tonight he definitely wasn't going no where. Opening up my notifications I replied back as he drove down the highway.
