Shadow groaned as he opened his eyes, blinking to get used to the bright light. He let out another groan when he realizes he was in the hospital. Noticing he had an oxygen mask on his face he took it off. He sat up and scanned around the room and saw Kai sitting on a chair, lost in thought.
"Kai?"
The brunette lifted his head and smiled at Shadow, "Glad to see you're awake. How are you?"
"Okay, I guess. My leg hurts a bit though."
"Well, that's because you had a bleeding wound the size of a lower arm on your left leg. You're lucky neither the burns or that are going to be permanent."
"Well, that's a relief." Shadow sighed.
Kai sighed and stood up, his twin knew what would come next, "What the hell were you thinking? Jumping out of a window on the twentieth floor. If you hadn't managed to activate your spinjitzu.....then...."
"It was the safest option I had."
"How the hell could that be the safest option?! You could have died and you would most likely have taken that girl with you!"
"We would have died before we reached the bottom floor anyway. She was barely conscious and I was slowly passing out. I knew that I took a huge risk by doing that, but I'd rather have me dead then both of us. There was no way I would have been able to get her out in time if we had gone for the bottom floor. I would have lost consciousness before we reached it and then both of us would have died."
"You could have called for me to help you."
"I didn't think about that, and even if I had thought of it, do you really expect me to have risked your life too. You were already tired after having had to get Lloyd out when he got stuck. You wouldn't have made it much longer than I had, and then we'd both be dead. Ninjago needs you, Kai, but if I can die trying to save someone then that's fine by me."
"Shadow, why do you keep doing this. You matter, not only to me but to the rest of Ninjago as well. Is that so hard for you to understand?"
"I understand that, I just want to keep people safe." The black-haired twin sighed, "Where are the others?"
Kai knew there was no point in trying to talk to his twin about this anymore, so he let the subject change, "They're on a mission. Nothing huge, just stopping a bank robbery. They said it was okay if I wanted to stay here with you."
"Oh, okay." Shadow sighed. "Have you heard anything about the survivors from the fire?"
Kai shook his head, "No. The only thing I've heard is that one old lady didn't survive. But from what I heard the others are currently stable. Why'd you ask?"
"Oh, no reason really. I just wanted to know." Shadow shrugged.
Kai lifted his eyebrow giving his brother a "Sure you did" look.
The taller bit his lip and ended up giving up, "~fine!" He exclaimed. "I was worried about all the survivors. But mostly about the girl."
The brunet let out a small laugh, "I knew it."
Shadow rolled his eyes which made the shorter twin smirk.
"Her name is Amy Storm. And from what I've heard, she is fine thanks to you. I got the number to her room if you want to go see her. Her aunt wants to talk to you as well."
"Am I allowed to leave my room?"
Kai narrowed his eyes, "Yes, but they want you to take it easy on the leg for a few days just in case. And try to keep an eye on the burn on your right side as it seemed a bit worse than the others."
