The day went by slow, and as it came to an end, Shadow felt very tired. He had gotten back to the park in hopes of clearing his head and relax for a moment.
He sat down on a park bench and held his head in his hands, closing his eyes as he let out a breath.
"Rough day?"
The ninja lifted his head and saw someone standing by a tree on the other side of the gravel-covered path the bench stood on.
They wore a black and blue theme.
Shadow chuckled, "Yeah, you could say that."
"Well, if it isn't the lady magnet, fancy seeing you again." Matt laughed as he walked over to the bench and sat down next to Shadow, his right arm resting on the backrest as he sat turned in the other's direction. "So, what's going on dude?"
Could he really trust Matt? They had only met once before, an encounter that hadn't ended in the best way. But, telling some parts of the truth wouldn't hurt, right?
"I had a hard time sleeping last night and ended up yelling at my little sister when she was only worried about me."
"Oh, sucks. I hope you at least apologized to her."
"Yeah, I did. But I still feel awful about it. Mainly because I hate when my family worries about me."
"Well, you're lucky to have a family. I have lived with my uncle for twelve years because my father wasn't capable to take care of me. I always wanted to meet him though, but a few months ago I found out he had died. And my adopted little sister was murdered six years ago so my uncle is all I have now."
"Whoa, that sucks, I'm really sorry to hear that, Matt, you seem like a chill person so you didn't deserve that."
"Yeah, but I never really knew my father that well, so it doesn't hurt as much. But I miss my sister a lot."
"Yeah, I get it. If my sister would get killed them I would miss her too. And my twin brother for that matter. Honestly, if any of my family died I would miss them."
"You have a twin brother?"
"Yeah, he's pretty cool. But he's been spending so much time with me that he hadn't hung out with his boyfriend as much. So I kinda got out of the way so they could spend some time together."
"Well, I honestly don't see why he wouldn't want to spend time with you, from what I've seen you seem like a cool guy."
"Heh, you're not so bad yourself." The ninja let out a sigh.
Matt narrowed his eyes at him, "Seriously, what's bothering you?"
"I've just been having nightmares lately and I can't seem to make them go away. I did some bad things in the past and I'm scared it'll happen again."
"Do you regret doing those things?"
"Of course I do! I'd do anything to make sure it never happens again!"
"Then it won't happen again."
Shadow turned his head to Matt fully, forgetting he wasn't wearing his sunglasses this time. "What do you mean?"
Matt sucked in a breath and sat frozen for a moment, "Because you know it was bad and you are trying not to let it happen again, so seeing as it was something you did, wouldn't your desire to stop it be enough for it to never happen."
The ninja shrugged, "I mean, I guess. Maybe you're right."
"I'm always right." Matt clicked with his mouth and pointed a finger gun at the other male, which caused him to laugh.
