Deerpaw let out a surprised shriek as he saw ThunderClan cats burst into ShadowClan's camp, looking furious.
Wishstar, their leader, unsheathed her claws. ''Prey-stealers!'' She yowled, then she flicked her tail. Her clanmates quickly jumped at the ShadowClan cats, pinning them down.
A dark brown tom pinned Deerpaw to the ground, slashing his claws across the apprentice's face. The tom blinked as he recognized the cat. That's Eaglepaw!
''Eaglepaw, it's me!'' Deerpaw hissed. ''What's going on?''
The ThunderClan tom stopped, looking at Deerpaw. He looked furious. ''I'm Eaglefall now. You, ShadowClan cats, stole our prey!'' He spat. Deerpaw wanted to say that ThunderClan were actually the ones who stole prey, but the warrior bit his ear.
Deerpaw used his back legs to kick Eaglefall away from him. Then, he stumbled up to his paws and threw himself at the warrior, making him stumble backwards. He looked around.
All ShadowClan cats were locked in battle with the ThunderClan cats. Ferretpaw, Irispaw, Turtlepaw and Icepaw also fought ThunderClan cats not far away from Deerpaw.
Eaglefall jumped over Deerpaw and pushed him away with his back legs. The apprentice shrieked, stumbling forward, then quickly turned around. ''That's a move for fighting badgers!'' He spat.
''Well, you, ShadowClan cats, are badgers.'' Eaglefall hissed.
Deerpaw got up and ran over to the warrior, slashing his claws across the warrior's muzzle, then backed away before Eaglefall could react. He spat and ran after Deerpaw.
''What's going on?!'' Stonestar yowled, rushing into camp. He looked around, and then sprinted over to Wishstar. Ravenflight followed him, and lazily jumped in the battle.
The pale brown apprentice didn't pay attention to what his leader or Ravenflight did. Instead, he ran towards a rock between the warriors' den and the elders' den. Then, he took a sharp turn and sprinted away. Eaglefall let out a surprised shriek and he tried to stop, but it was too late. He hit the rock and fell to the ground.
Deerpaw purred, proud. He looked around, but before he could go help his clanmates, Eaglefall rushed over to him, ran behind him and pushed him with his back paws again. Deerpaw shrieked in surprise, falling to the ground.
Eaglefall began clawing the apprentice's back. Deerpaw tried to break free, but it was hard, since Eaglefall held him down and was raking his claws across Deerpaw's back. Then, a blue-gray cat began to drag the warrior away from Deerpaw. Irispaw!
The she-cat growled and bit the warrior's tail. Deerpaw got up and ran to help Irispaw. He clawed the warrior's face. Eaglefall, took by surprise, lashed his tail, making Irispaw let the tail go. He clawed Deerpaw's muzzle and then turned, running out of camp.
''Thanks for the help.'' Deerpaw meowed. Irispaw nodded and jumped into battle again.
Deerpaw took this moment to look around. There were still a few ThunderClan cats in the camp, and Stonestar and Wishstar were locked in battle.
''What's this for?!'' Stonestar spat as he clawed the she-cat's muzzle.
''ShadowClan stole our prey!'' Wishstar hissed, dodging Stonestar's attack and biting his paw.
''What do you mean? ThunderClan is the one who stole prey!'' Stonestar spat.
Wishstar stopped.
''A patrol found prey bones near the ShadowClan border.'' Wishstar hissed. ''We didn't steal anything, you did.''
''And Ravenflight found prey bones near the border with your Clan.'' Stonestar lashed his tail, furious. ''You stole our prey!''
