My hand reached out to grasp the door handle and with a deep breath, I pushed the door to dorm 521 open. I slowly emerged into the room I would be living in for the next year and I froze when I saw that three other girls were already in the room, chatting away as they unpacked, their backs facing me. Ariel placed a small hand on my lower back and urged me to venture further into my new home by giving me a gentle push.

One of the girls, the one with long mousy hair that was wearing a yellow sweater with chunky stripes and a pair of cute mom jeans, turned around to grab something from her suitcase but abruptly stopped and stood still, her voice cutting off from the conversation she was having with my other two roommates.

"Ooh, you must be Elsa. Hello, I'm Jane." The girl I now knew as Jane made her way over to me and held out her hand for me to shake. Her British accent was strange to hear, but I found it interesting as I'd never met someone from England before. I reached out and clutched her hand, shaking it gently. "That's Meg and she's Esmeralda. We're your roommates for the year." The other two girls, Meg and Esmeralda, who had turned around and watched Jane and I's encounter, gave me a wave and said, "Hi."

The three of them also quickly greeted Ariel, who was standing behind me. The two of us approached the last free bed and dumped my bags onto it. I took my phone out of my pocket and swapped it with my map, placing the device on top of my pillow and I shoved my information card into my front pocket. Ariel took out her phone and harshly bit the inside of her cheek when she glanced down at the screen. I furrowed my eyebrows, but she quickly stuffed it into the right pocket of her white hoodie. She smiled brightly at me and tugged on my arm.

"Let's go to the dinner hall, on the first night back dinner is always at 6pm because Principal Mickey gives a start-of-year speech," Ariel mentioned, giving me a smile. I nodded and felt my pockets to make sure my dorm key was still there.

"We'll catch you down there," Esmeralda told us as Ariel and I walked back towards the teal door. I turned around and gave her a small smile before grabbing the door handle and yanking it open, stepping out into the West Wing hallway.

"Welcome back, students of Walt Disney Academy! I hope you all had a long, relaxing summer and stayed safe. I just wanted to say a few words before we started tucking into the wonderful meal Mr Linguini and Ms Tatou have prepared for us tonight," Principal Mickey told the dinner hall, using a hand to motion to the two teachers that were standing to the right of him. The male teacher, who Principal Mickey claimed was Mr Linguini, immediately turned scarlet red while Ms Tatou smiled confidently at everyone in the hall. Everyone began to applaud for the two teachers, so I followed along.

"Yes, thank you two very much. Now, last year was one of the best years for us as a school. Last year's Sophomore football team, the Disney Dragons, led us to victory as they won the School Cup League. Our cheerleading team, also called the Disney Dragons, won the 2019 National Cheerleading Competition. Our school choir won the Annual Choir of the Year and Mrs Andersen and the drama club worked extremely hard to perform a fantastic version of Grease." The hall erupted into cheering once again, and Principal Mickey waited for a few moments until the noise quietened down.

"I would just like to finish off by saying I hope our new students feel as welcome as possible and I hope you all continue to work as hard as you did last year. Let the feast begin!"

Everyone began digging into the food that was spread across their respective tables, including me. I glanced around the room and noticed that roughly half of the seats were empty.

"Did the school buy too many seats or...?" I questioned over the busy noise of the hall, grabbing a few pieces of garlic bread and dumping them on my plate.

"A lot of people normally skip Mickey's first-night-back speech because they'd rather be unpacking or they're too busy making out with their boyfriend or girlfriend that they haven't been able to see in two months," Esmeralda told me, stretching over Jane to take a spoonful of pasta, but the sleeve of her top accidentally dipped into Jane's potatoes.

"Great one, Esmeralda," She grumbled, pulling the girl's arm away from her plate and shoving the bowl of pasta at her. "Y'know, you could've just asked me to pass the bowl over to you."

"Sorry, Jane," She apologized sheepishly, grabbing a handful of napkins from the middle of the table and cleaning off the mashed potatoes from her arm.

"Who even eats potatoes anyways?" Meg teased, motioning at me to pass her the jug of orange juice. I carefully grabbed the handle and gave it to Ariel, who then placed it into Meg's hands. She shot the both of us a grateful smile and poured the diluted juice into her glass.

"I do, because they remind me of home," Jane pouted, stabbing her fork into a roast potato on her plate.

"I wouldn't be pouting for much longer if I were you," Ariel said to the brunette that sat across from her as she glimpsed behind Jane. She looked at Ariel in confusion until a boy I didn't know came up behind her, placed something on the ground and wrapped his arms around her shoulders.

"Tarzan!" She exclaimed, turning around in her seat as he loosened his grip around her shoulders. I peeked at everyone else that was sitting around me and they watched the pair fondly. The boy, Tarzan, had long, dark hair, forest green eyes and extraordinarily, and I mean extraordinarily sharp facial features.

"Hi, Jane. Came to give you these," He told her shyly, picking up the bouquet of yellow and purple flowers he had gently set on the ground. He handed them to her and I could tell that her heart was glowing.

"Thank you, Tarzan, they're beautiful," She said softly, taking the bouquet from him and standing up to give him a kiss on the cheek. Ariel, Meg and Esmeralda all 'aww'ed from behind them but they either didn't notice or didn't care.

"Hey, T!" a few voices called from the table Ariel was glancing at earlier, beckoning Tarzan to join them. I looked over my shoulder to see a guy with long, ginger hair motioning with his hands for Tarzan to sit with them. He gave the redhead a stiff nod and peered down at Jane fondly.

"Before you go, I'd like you to meet somebody. Elsa, this is Tarzan, my boyfriend. Tarzan, this is Elsa, my new friend and roommate," she introduced, relaxing into Tarzan's side before he went to sit with his friends.

"Nice to meet you," he told me, shaking the hand that I had offered. "I'll see you later, okay?" He said to Jane, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

"See you later." She smiled as she watched him jog off to his friend's table. I didn't know Jane that well and I'd only seen Tarzan for the first time about a minute ago, but I could tell they were two halves of one soul.
