Chapter 2

INSIDE THE CASTLE:

" You have returned to the court at your own queen's bidding. As noble ladies, you must counsel her, prepare her, account for her. For the Princess Elisabeth's wedding, as with any event, you must acquaint yourselves, and Mary, with all visiting royalty and dignitaries" The woman says to the ladies.

"Who amongst you is fluent in Italian?"The woman asks the ladies

"I suppose I am," Aylee answers the woman apprehensively

"You will sit next to the Pope's cousin. He has no teeth and speaks very quickly." The woman says and the girls erupt in laughter

Later in Mary's room:

The girls were trying on dresses and makeup

"Are these dresses from Paris?" Kenna asks

"Yes, everyone," Aylee answers her

" Oh, If Colin could see me, he'd marry me in a second. I look of age now; we all do." Lola says while trying dresses

"You know what I'd like to do? Explore. We haven't been here since we were children. Surely the castle's changed. Who's with me?" Aylee says to the girls

"I am!" Kenna says excitedly

"Go. I'll find you later. There's something I want to see." Mary says to the girls

Time skip
(Mary climbs up a creaking staircase that goes all the way to the top of the castle. She recalls memories she shared with Francis when they were small children)

YOUNG MARY (whispering): Francis is a girl's name.
(laughter echos throughout the hallowed hallways. When she finally makes it to the top of the stairs, she sees various children's toys.

While reminiscing in a room lies Francis and Maria talking about the engagement.

Maria's POV:

" Francis, what are you thinking about?" I ask

Continuing with working on his sword he answers" I'm upset Maria I can't believe that I have to do this any of this. I don't nor will I ever love Mary" He says throwing his tools aside

Walking to him I grab ahold of his face and  I say " Everything will be fine she is only here for a little while until we can find another suitor for her but also so that we will still have Scotland's alliance. You won't have to be near her for long just remember my love in a months time we will be married"

Smiling Francis says " Your right in a months time you will officially be mine," He says wrapping his arms around my waist

"I am already yours us getting married just shows to the world that you are mine and I am yours but as long as we know we belong to each other," I say looking into his beautiful eyes

" You know I will never leave you for anyone right" Francis whispers

"I know" I whisper back

Smiling I lean in for a kiss but then I hear a bump from outside the door I and Francis turn startled to see Mary walking up the stairs towards the room. Letting go of Francis I walk to the door to open it a little more.

"Mary," I say to her a little confused on what she is doing up here no one ever really comes up here

"Maria. Francis. Um, I didn't know you.." She starts to say

"What are you doing here?" Francis asks interrupting her

"I was exploring. These were my old rooms. Don't you remember?" Mary says to Francis
