We arrived at the front gate of Tommy's house, it was a freaking mansion and people were already here laughing and getting drunk, as per usual, people just don't waste time when it comes to partying and alcohol.
Music was blaring from the backyard when we walked through the main door.
"Later losers," and without another word, Ben walked off.
"I'm going to find a drink," Liam says and walks off in search of alcohol.
I shifted closer to Audrey who was looking around."We're going to go say hi to a few people," Sam calls out to us. "See you's around."
I waved bye to him and followed Audrey and Lynette through the crowds of people, the scent of alcohol within the air, I scrunched up my nose disliking the smell of it. Audrey reached the table filled with plates of snacks and on the floor was a container filled with ice and drinks.
"You want one?" Audrey asks Lynette who shakes her head. "How about you?"
"I'm only fifteen," I tell her.
"Shit, really?" Audrey stares at me in disbelief before grinning like I just told a joke. "Nah, you're pulling my leg."
"No, I'm being legit. I don't turn sixteen until June."
Audrey pauses. "Well, no alcohol for you then."
I nodded watching as Audrey sculls her drink. "Ahh," she wipes her mouth with the back of her hand. She quickly refills her drink and sculls that too.
"Easy Audrey," Lynette says. "I'm going to have a look around."
"Okay."
Audrey was up to her fourth drink, she was quick to finish it, slams her cup on the table. "Let's fucking dance!" she grabs my arm and leads me to the living room where they were having a dance party in there. It was dark except the bright fluoro lights, Audrey whips her hair around singing horribly to the song that was playing and of course, I didn't recognize it, the beat was good.
"You're so bad at dancing," Audrey shouts at me over the music.
I roll my eyes and laughed. It was true, I suck when it comes to dancing. Audrey eyes something behind me, a devilish grin comes across her face.
"What?" I shout.
Audrey grabs my hand and spins me around and next thing I knew, I was dancing with Tommy. Oh my god, I rolled my eyes, I was hoping to avoid him... like all night.
"Mind if I cut in?" he whispers in my ear.
Um, yes, I wanted to shout but instead, I just smile awkwardly, I pulled away making room for us to dance but he continuously kept coming closer and closer. The smell of alcohol, he was reeking in it.
"I need some air," I shouted as I turned for any exit. I was quite short so it was easy to blend through the crowd, hell, I ended up hiding just by crouching down behind some people. I watched as Tommy looked around for me.
"Um excuse me?" a shrilly female voice says from above me. "What the hell are you doing?"
"I am just tying my shoelace," I tell her as I pretended to tie my shoelace and quickly got up. "All done, sorry about that," I grinned at her and walked away making sure to go the opposite direction of where Tommy went. That was bloody embarrassing as hell, my face flushed just thinking about it.
I searched everywhere, I had no idea where Lynette had run off too and when I did find Audrey, she was busy dancing with a guy and getting wasted so I was left with one option, to find some peace and quiet. I headed out the back trying to avoid being noticed by any drunken idiots and made my way to the backyard, it wasn't as packed as it was inside but I kept walking. I found a small garden that no one was in, I turned back, I could still see the house and hear the blasting music and laughter so I decided to sit down. The air was cool against my hot, sweaty skin which I enjoyed and decided to look around, I noticed a hedge and curious took over me as I got up to have a closer look, sure enough, it appeared to be a maze. I smiled, I've always wanted to try out a maze since they looked insanely cool and maybe there was another garden right at the center of it.
Again, I glanced back at the house, Audrey was busy and Lynette was goodness knows where but the girl was smart so maybe I'll leave for a few minutes without anyone noticing as well as checking the sky, it wouldn't be dark for at least an hour, I still have enough light left. I turned back walking forward my hand gently gliding along with the leaves of the hedge, I turned the corner my smile widened as I continued on turning another corner and coming to a stop, which way to go now? Left or right?
I shrugged willingly to take a chance and went left, I decided on choosing whatever way that came to mind first and soon found myself lost within the maze. I snorted, should've expected this.
"Good job Abby," I muttered, I wanted to turn around but instead I kept going, I wanted to see if I could continue on forward to find the center of it at least, make this whole mess worthwhile but after a few turns I gave up. I wanted to scream in frustration, it was dark now.
"You idiot," I muttered and then an idea occurred to me, I got close to the hedge itself and sussed it out, grabbed it and shaking it to see how firm and stable it was.
"Good enough," I start climbing up, when I reached the top I glanced around.
