I waited until it was seven-fifteen before making my way over to the B-thirteen classroom, I hadn't eaten anything at all today with the exception of the numbing leaves which I used twice and ended up taking one long ass nap.
Since it was detention, I sort of expected to be just sitting in the classroom and writing the same lines over and over again or evening forced to clean something and whatever it was, I was focus on it and not speak to the others. I wanted time and space to collect my thoughts.
When I reached the classroom, no one was there yet, I even peered inside to make sure they were not waiting inside so then I sat down and curled up into a ball waiting.
Sam arrived about five minutes later.
"Calum not here yet?" Sam questions.
I shrug as I turned to avoid looking at him. He went over and leaned on the opposite side of the wall to me.
Say something to him, a voice in my head whispers. Ask him how he is doing, he'd be suffering from the maze experience as well.
I wanted to ask how he was doing but I pressed my lips together.
He's your friend, friends ask how each other are going after an experience such as this, my mind continues to whisper.
I wanted a teacher to hurry up and get here, distract me from my traitorous thoughts and when footsteps were coming up the stairs, I sighed in relief but I was too soon because instead it was Calum walking up the stairs and he still looked like he was pissed off. I quickly looked away.
"Good, you're all here," I was startled by the sudden voice emerging from the shadows. I did not recognise this teacher at all. "If one of you had been late even by a second, I would have kept you here an hour longer."
I stood up. "Um, who are you?"
The man steps from the shadows, he was tall and lean and very attractive. Bronze coloured skin with sandy blonde hair and from where I was standing, his eyes were dark.
"Mr Wilson, I am janitor of this school," damn, he is way too attractive to be the janitor of this school, "and you are here until nine p.m. to help clean this classroom," he opens the door, the classroom looked very old and looked as if it hadn't been used for a long time, it was so dusty and there were even cobwebs.
"I expect this place to be shining by the time I return and if not, you won't be going home until you do," Mr Wilson says. "Cleaning supplies are over there in the storage room, have fun."
Reluctantly we all head over there grabbing different items before going into the classroom, I made sure to grab a mask as it was dusty inside and the last thing I needed was a sneezing fit. We got to work immediately without talking to one another, just picked our own space.
Sam worked over at the teacher's desk while Calum started on the windows, I decided to go into the small storage closet to clean it out. There were some books which looked interesting after wiping it down from the dust like 'Creatures of Maleria; Fact or Myth' and a book on plants which did not look overly interesting and a few more. The first book did capture but when I reached the last one, 'Bloodborn; A History'. A headache came rushing back so suddenly that I dropped the book, I stabled myself by holding onto the shelf while my other hand went reaching for the numbing leaves. This hasn't happened before, usually I'd get a little wave feeling before the headache even starts.
"You okay in there?" Sam calls out.
I didn't answer him right away, I quickly opened the container and popped the leaf into my mouth.
"Yeah," I called back as the relief started kicking in. "Just thought I saw a spider."
I sucked on the leaf until I felt okay enough to let go of the shelf and pick up the book, I set the book aside and started cleaning.
