And so they continue with playing volleyball. The captain is so good at receiving! I would say, almost even better than Rayden.
"Hey, king." I look up from my notebook, which already is a mess with English and Arabic words mixed together. Tsukishima-san is trying to rile Kageyama-san up, so he loses his cool.
"Looks like you're in trouble, King. Maybe you should start getting serious." Tsukishima remarks, staring straight at Kageyama, waiting for a reaction.
"What's your problem? You haven't stopped getting in our faces since the other day. What's this 'king's' toss?"  Fires Hinata-san back, looking confused but also quite done with Tsukishima's taunts. He doesn't know why he calls him king? I think, surprised as I thought these two already met before.
"Don't you know why they call him 'King'?" He points to Kageyama-kun, who looks like he wants to kill him with his eyes. Tsukishima-kun would probably be dead if eyes could kill you. I sweat drop slightly, giving an awkward chuckle at my own thoughts.
"He's called that because he's so good that guys other schools are intimidated by him, isn't it?" Tsukishima has the audacity to laugh in his face, surprising Hinata-kun.
"I'm sure there are others who think that's why. However, his nickname of 'king of the court' was giving to him by the guys of Kitagawa Daiichi. By the teammates of the king. What it means is... He's the self-centered king. The oppressive dictator." Tsukishima explains a tad too smug for me. I glance worriedly at Kageyama-kun, his bangs are covering his eyes, probably thinking about something that traumatized him, going off of his expression.
"I heard the rumors, but I was convinced when I saw the match. He got too oppressive and had to sit out on the bench." Everyone stares at the black-haired setter, taken aback at the meaning 'King of the Court' that was given by his teammates. Honestly, I can't help but feel pity for him. It must suck to have your teammates back turned on you, while he should lose the mindset of that he can't order teammates around and act like a self-centered person, it would've hurt if someone turned their backs towards me.
"He doesn't set up quick hits. Is that because he's lost his nerve from that match?" Tsukishima smirks, his eyes shining with contempt. It irks me.
"Dude. You've been yammering too much." I can see the veins pulsing in Tanaka-senpai's head as the latter takes a step forward, ready to defend his teammate.
"Tanaka." The captain interrupts as he shakes his head in warning to the wing spiker, telling him to stop it before he does something drastic. The wing spiker backs off, still glaring a bit at Tsukishima. But Tsukishima should have at least the decency to show respect to them.
"He made a toss, but no one jumped-"
"You're right." Kageyama-kun interjects. "I made a toss, and no one was there. It's truly frightening." And then he was seated on the bench, looking like he lost the trust in the people around him. "أنه يخرج عن السيطره." I mumble to myself, and raise my voice. (This is getting out of hand).
"What's the big deal?" I would've laughed at their clueless faces if I wasn't continuing. "You were only in junior high, right? Your toss to me just fine, it makes no difference to me." And immediately clamp my mouth shut after I finished my sentence, still feeling quite embarrassed at all the attention send my way.
"He's right!" Chimes Hinata-san in. He turns away from Kageyama, instead pointing his finger in Tsukishima's face. "And the real problem for me is how I'm going to get past you." Grinning widely as he gets a scowl in return, he whips back to face Kageyama.
"We'll win against Tsukishima, become official members of the club, you'll become our setter, and toss to me. What else matters furthermore?" Exclaims Hinata loudly, I chuckle softly, hiding it behind my hand as Sugawara-senpai gives me a knowing smile. I miss Tsukishima's mumbled words from where's he standing, however, Sawamura and Yamaguchi can hear him clearly.
"How pure and straightforward.... And irritating." He clicks his tongue before walking back to his position, so they can continue the match.
The match between the first-years and the third-years continue smoothly. The only real interruption was the realization that Hinata can spike with his eyes closed, which was honestly the first time I've ever seen anyone doing it, so that was quite weird, and shocking. Of course, it led to arguing between the infamous duo, again, so there's that.
I also asked Sugawara-senpai again to tell me the story why they had this match to join the team, because I don't like not knowing things. Which he told me, and to be honest I was quite .... Stumped is the right word. How in the heck are they so oblivious that their fighting and arguing doesn't solve anything and managed to knock the vice principal's wig off. And after that, when they wanted to show they could work together, they only ended up arguing again! After Sugawara-senpai finished telling the story, I could only shake my head, feeling a little fond and exasperated at the same time.
Luckily, Tanaka-senpai's team win the match, making Kageyama- and Hinata-san get to stay, which is a relief because it would be such a shame if they didn't make it to the team, seeing their potential. As I help lowering the net, a squeak escapes me as Hinata-san all of the sudden appears next to me, seemingly excited for some reason.
"Hey, I wanted to thank you for the support you gave us! We probably wouldn't have it made otherwise to the team!" Says Hinata, thanking me quite loudly, as Kageyama-san looks dubious, but still nods anyway. I wave it away with a sheepish laugh.
"It's fine, but I think you would've made it to the team without my support." An awkward chuckle escapes me as I scratch my cheek, giving them a bashful grin, not noticing Hinata and Kageyama blushing.
"Ah, m-my name is Hinata Shoyo! It's nice to meet you!" Hinata introduces himself, as he realized he hadn't done that.
"Kageyama Tobio." Is all what Kageyama-san says, probably not knowing what else he could say.
"I'm Andou Zayd, a-although you can just call me Zayd if you want," My voice cracks in the midst of the sentence, at which I cringe inwardly. Hinata lights up.
"Then you can just call me Shoyo!" He pauses to take a deep breath before he all of the sudden bombards me with all kinds of quiestions, "Zayd-kun, do you play volleyball? What kind of position do you play? You're first-year, right? Then why didn't you play with us? Are you going to play with us? Or do you have an injury? Is that why you can't play?" I interrupt him quickly, but not unkindly before I get more questions fired my way.
"No, I do not play volleyball, I want to be a manager. I'm a first-year, yes. Like I said, I want to be a manger, so I'm not going to play with you guys, I do not have an injury, and I can play a bit, but I'm not going to join you as a player." I answer back, mentally checking if I have answered every question, so I'm surprised as I see Hinata pouting.
"Ahhh, you're not going to play volleyball? I really want to do it with you?" Hinata exclaims, jumping around Zayd like he wasn't tired a few minutes ago. I blink owlishly, and blink again before letting out a soft laugh, amused at Hinata's antics. Hinata trips over his own feet, blushing furiously as he hears me laughing while Kageyama gazes down at me, a small smile playing with his lips as his cheeks redden slightly.
