I eye Kageyama from the corner of eye to gauge his reactions. He looks shocked and...worried, I'm pretty sure that promises anything but good.
"How's the ankle?" Snapped out of my thoughts I turn to him again who made Kageyama look shocked.
He stares at the girls who are cheering him on for a moment before he turns to his coach, flashing a smile while holding 'ok' sign with his fingers, telling him he can play, "It's fine. I can get back to regular practice. It was just a slight sprain." The coach sighs audible and turns away from him, a slight frown adorning his face.
"For crying out loud! Be careful. You're the one that asked to play against Kageyama. What do we do without our official setter? It's embarrassing." The coach scolds the brown-haired male. I know him, how could I have been so stupid? He starts rubbing the back of his head, a chuckle escapes his lips, "I'm sorry."
"Oikawa-san, take care of yourself!" Screams a girl from the side lines, squealing with her friends as he gives them a smile and waves. I sweat drop slightly. We're in a load of trouble. Only to sweat drop again as I see the dark aura Tanaka-senpai is emitting.
"Kageyama-kun, who's that laidback guy? I find him unpleasant." He says menacingly, pointing with his index finger towards Oikawa-san, who's still waving at the girls, oblivious to the dark aura. Still sweat dropping at his antics, I gently push his finger down as he's focused on Sawamura-senpai.
"He's the captain of Seijo." The team, with the exception of Kageyama and I, look surprised at his confession. I glance at Oikawa, scanning him from head to toe. I've seen him play before in the videos, why did I forget?
"Oikawa-san is a super-aggressive setter. His attack power is also at the top of his team. And he's got a terrible personality." Kageyama-san introduces Oikawa, staring back to Hinata as if he tries to prove a point.
"Coming from you, that's scary...." Mumbles Hinata, looking taking aback.
"Maybe even worse than Tsukishima."
"He must be really bad." I step forward interrupt before an argument can break out.
"You met him from Kitagawa Daiichi, you played on the same team." He looks at me, surprised but nods. "Yes. He was my senpai in junior high." Hinata has a star-struck expression on his face and glances towards Oikawa. I also cast Oikawa-san a quick glance, who's talking to his teammates before he suddenly turns around, and waves cheerfully.
"Yoo-hoo! Long time no see, Tobio-chan! So nice to see you!" Tobio-chan? He must know him pretty well. "You still doing the King thing?" As the last word slips past his lips, all of Karasuno tenses up. My eyebrow twitches slightly and my eyes narrow at him. A certain person who has been feeling the glares some time now feels a drop of sweat sliding down his back. Ignoring his question, Kageyama-san turns to Sawamura-senpai, his face serious.
"I learned serving and blocking by watching him play. His skills are extremely high."
"Yes." I chime in, "He's the most feared for his powerful and accurate jump, add from what I've seen, he can maintain a calm posture during matches, having a pretty great game sense. Oikawa-san is one of the best all-round players, so he can adapt pretty well to sudden changes."
...
...
Kageyama stares at me, just like the rest of the team, too stunned to say anything so Sawamura-senpai asks what has been on their minds.
"Uhm, if you mind me asking, but how do you know all of this?"
"Well, uh, watching a lot of videos and analyzing?" The pitch of my voice rises at the end of my sentence, making it more sound like a question as I squirm a little under their eyes. Shaking his head, Sawamura claps his hands hard, gathering the attention of our team.
"Alright, we know what to look out for. Let's focus on the match now!"
"Yeah!"
Before going back to my position, I gaze at Oikawa for the last time, who probably feels someone staring at him since he glances behind him. He smiles and waves happy at me only to look surprised as I turn away with huff, quickly going back to my seat as the third set is about to begin. As I'm about to sit down, I almost fall of as I'm too close too the edge. Just when I think I'm really smashing my face into the floor, I'm saved by Kiyoko-senpai as she sees what is about to happen to me, and grasps my arm. "T-Thank you." I stutter, feeling relieved. That was close.
She gives me a small nod. "You should pay more attention to your surroundings." I chuckle awkwardly, rubbing the back of my head. "Yeah...you're right."
Oikawa-san is send away with a warning from the coach, and he complies with a grin of his own. But not before sending a knowing smirk towards Kageyama-san.
