Donny

I watched her sneak across the lawn, sticking to the shadows as she avoided any and all human contact. Her long hair was pulled into a messy ponytail, hanging down a good six inches past her shoulders and the majority of the layers framing her heart shaped face were loose around it. She pulled on a light blue windbreaker as she crossed the dark street.

I kept an eye on her as I followed her to the sector gate, keeping to the shadows myself and stopping right before the gate. She stood in line behind the other foot traffic, tapping her foot impatiently. She was upset about something. I could tell.

I watched as the sector guard stopped her at the gate. He went through the motions of scanning her ID and asking the required questions, but I could tell the sector guard was phoning the performance in. He knew she had unlimited access and exactly who she was. This little conversation was just for show.

Wouldn't want the fine residents of the Red Sector to scream favoritism because the guard didn't follow protocol, even if the resident currently attempting to go through the checkpoint was his leader's daughter.

Rixton Biochemical Corp and B&T Securities liked to pretend they were fair. That no special treatment was given to their pets and their families.

I called bullshit as I watched Aerin angrily snatch her ID back from the guard's hands and continue her trek home.

It was now time to initiate the next stage of this sick and twisted plan.

Once she disappeared from sight, I called up the gray nothingness of the void and disappeared into the night like I was never there.
