My Foolish Empress

Chapter 3

Emperor POV

I issues decree rejecting any visit from minister and my consort regarding the title of empress.

I lock myself in my study quarter with my trustful and loyal eunuch, trying to find solution to weed the injustice and also finding the right new empress canditate.

"Your majesty, this is the list of name unmarried lady in majesty empire..." A black masked clothes man suddenly appear.

I and the eunuch use by the person sudden entrance.

"You can leave... " I dismiss him.

He bowed before leaving the room.

I checked the name list of the unmarried lady, luckily the list only one page,after crossing out the underage lady, the list cut to only half page.

Crosschecking their background, most of them fail to reach the standard i wishes. Most of their family sided with corrupt minister.

"What about miss Xun? She come from humble family and she also distant relative to the empress... " The eunuch suggested.

"Yes, she did have potential being the next empress but based on her family, i dont think she the right choice... " I rejected.

Looking at the scroll crossed name list, i realise i dont have any new empress canditate.

"Your majesty, how about give the title empress one of your harem wife?..." The eunuch suggested.

I dont have much faith selecting among my harem as the new empress.  I knew well their green tea personality. But, having no choice i give another crosschecked list.  As i suspected, i barely started, most of the name list already crossed.

"There no one listed here suitable being the next empress... " I sighed.

The eunuch gave another glance to the scroll and notice i missed one.  The person name was overlapped by the other paper causing me to miss the name.

I didnt recognize the owner of the name. It took me a while to remember the owner of the name. I realise last year, i added another wife into my harem, shockingly i married a male as a wife. He has such plain and ordinary look, that he hardly put him in my mind.

I call my hidden guard which their appear instantly and i instruct them to investigate the male wife i married.

Next day, i receive full report regarding the male wife i married. As his look, his daily life also plain and repeated. He mostly spend time alone and has no maid nor guard attending him. He was also an orphan.

I realise he the perfect canditate to become the next empress. When time come, he can easily replace by someone more worthy being empress. With his easily bullied personality, he wouldnt have any gut to retort. No one would care even if he become target of assassination.

Confirming the choice, i began issue the decree of announcing him as my new empress and my son new mother.

I put the trust preparing him for his coronation being the new empress to my trusted and loyal eunuch.

On the next meeting with my minister, i officially announce him as my new empress. The minister was shocked speechless by the announcement. A name that no one expected to become an empress. I can see disasfication on their face but this all according to my plan.

End Emperor POV

I overheard from the talk from maid that the emperor chosen someone from his own harem to become the next empress. I was curious who the next empress.

I secretly hoped being chosen but unfavoured by him, i taught i dont have the chance being chosen so i decide to dismiss the taught and continue with my daily life.

"I just hope the new empress someone i can get along..." I mumbled alone.

The vegetable i grew 2 month ago ready to harvest. I was happy with the result. I can save budget buying food and exchange it in buying new textiles. 

Knock! Knock! Repeated knock on the door. It been long time i receive a guest, truthfully no one had visited me. Thinking the emperor come to visit me, i beemed happiness. I quickly exchange my haggard clothes something more elegant. I was nervous meeting his majesty, i havent seen him more than a year.

I did breathing manuver before opening the main door.

I was bit disappointed when finding someone else by the door rather his majesty.

"I'm his majesty, head eunuch... " He introduce himself. He followed by another younger eunuch holding a covered tray.

"I would to meet consort Yuan YiJun... " He called my name.

"I'm YiJun... " I timidly replied.

They seem shocked by my identity.

I invited them inside my home and lead them to outside sitting area. I handled preparing them something for light snack. I felt happy when the younger eunuch love the handmade biscuit i made. So happy i end up giving him a whole bag.

When the head eunuch relay the emperor word, i completely stunned. I was chosen being his majesty empress. A low rank consort becoming high rank empress. I felt like dejavu.  I'm clueless the reason emperor chose me as his new empress. I havent done anything worthy compare to the emperor other wife.

I accepted the title. I was given new tailored empress attire and expensive hair accessories.

The eunuch had long chat about my coronation detail which will be held end of the weeks.

After the eunuch left, i finally let out my excitement. The clothes and accessories was beautiful, i never receive something expensive such gift from the emperor.

Next day, i was visited again by the same eunuch only with addition of maid. I can see him sighed seeing my haggard look. I couldnt blame him, i sleep rather late last night. I was overly excited, i couldnt fall asleep.

The maid began cleaning me up. I was ashamed being half naked in front of them but they doesnt seem to bothered by it. The process was painful, they keep scrubbing my skin until it red, saying i have too much death skin cell. My hair also hold same problem. I grunt in pain each time the maid trying to untangled my knotted hair. The eunuch sat on the corner as he watch me 'tortured' by the maid.

This event continue until the last day before the coronation. Covered with slice of cucumber, i remain unmoved from my bed.  The maid lament i was lacking of skin moister. I cried in silence my garden was completely unattended since the past week.
