Chapter Eight, The Parting of the Fellowship

Calén sprang awake as he sensed the Urkais getting closer and quickly woke the rest of the Fellowship. "Quick! Get up! Get up!" He shouted jolting everyone out of their sleep rather abruptly.
"What is it Calén?" Boromir asked concerned as they gathered their belongings.
"The Urks are coming!" He shouted once more. Quickly they gathered what they could carry and headed off into the forest trying to get away. Before they could get much further into the woods they were immediately surrounded by a swarm of urkais. The Hobbits immediately took shelter in the bushes as they knew they would not be able to stand against them.

But before Frodo and Sam could take cover they were cornered by these foul beings only just being rescued by Boromir and Calén. "Run!" They shouted to the pair not being able to see the two other Hobbits in the bushes. Frodo and Sam instead of running away and hiding they ran back to where the boats were docked taking one of them to the opposite shore and starting their journey to the mountain alone hoping they could destroy the ring and Sauron in time to save Calên. Back with Boromir and Calén they were slowly being overwhelmed by the foul beasts so Boromir quickly took the opening he had to blow his horn to attract Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli to attention them to help them. "Stay in the bushes." Boromir called to Pippin and Merry when he spotted them crawling out to help him and Calén.

He quickly spared a glance at Aragorn's paramour to see he was holding his own rather well for someone who has not seen any battle and only had training. He blew on his horn once more only to be brought to his knees with a pain filled cry as he was struck in the shoulder by an arrow. "Boromir!" Calén shouted searching around them quickly for the one who shot him. Finding him quickly he crept up behind him as he loaded another arrow and cut off his head before he could release the arrow. Only for him and Boromir to be swarmed once more. There were hundreds of them. Seeing their friends in trouble Merry and Pippin climbed out of the bushes to help but that was a mistake. As they rushed over to their friends to help, they were picked up by the beasts and carried away from their friends.

"NO!" Calén and Boromir shouted trying to get to their friends but there was too many of them and if their friends did not get here soon their lives would be taken from them. Thankfully the others had finally arrived whether drawn by the urkas, the horn or their shouts Calén and Boromir did not care. Seeing Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli had the matter well in hand Calén rushed over to Boromir to help him. "Bite down on this." Calén said helping Boromir to sit down and bite down on the leather strap of his dagger sheath. "I apologise this is going to hurt." Calén said with a grimace as he cut into Boromir's shoulder near the arrow head snapping the shaft of arrow and pulling the arrow out of his shoulder. Quickly he poured some water into the wound to flush and clean it before wrapping it up with a bandage from his bag. "I'm sorry." Calén apologised seeing his friend in pain.
"Do not apologise." Boromir said sternly. "You saved me. You did well." He thanked and praised his young friend.

"Calén are you alright?" Aragorn asked seeing a small wound on his beloveds forearm near his shoulder. "I'm fine Aragorn. I fear Frodo and Sam have headed to the mountain alone and the Urks have taken Merry and Pippin. We cannot leave them to a fate they will give them." Calén said urgently. Legolas rushed off to the boats only to see Frodo and Sam walking through the trees on the opposite shore and headed back to the others relaying what he'd seen. "You mean not to go with them?" Legolas asked Calén and Aragorn referring to Frodo and Sam.
"We will not leave Merry and Pippin to a fate worse then death." Calén said sternly.
"We won't my love." Aragorn assured. "The Fellowship still stands as long as we stand true to each other. Now, let's hunt some Orc!" Aragorn shouted removing his clasped have from Boromir's shoulder.

"Yes!" Gimli shouted as he ran into the forest behind them Legolas after him. Calén looked at Boromir in concern. Seeing his young friends look Boromir brought him into a quick hug before they ran after Gimli and Legolas. "I am fine Calén." Boromir assured. "If I start to feel different I shall tell you."
"Good. You better." Calén said with a firm glare at the man of Gondor, as he ran to catch up with Legolas so they could track where they have gone. He would not let Merry and Pippin suffer then pain and agony he had suffered in his previous life not whole he still drew breath. "He can be quite scary you know." Boromir admitted to Aragorn who laughed clasping his uninjured shoulder.
"Oh, I know." Aragorn laughed.
