December 24th-26th, 1914 - The Christmas Truce

The Great War had not been ongoing for very long so far, but many were already having a tough time. This, of course, didn't only affect the innocent civilians living in Europe at the time. No, no, this affected the countries themselves quite deeply. They were consumed with work or fighting, never getting much of a break. But, it was Christmas week, and ever since the 24th of December, tensions have been lowered. There was an unofficial truce for a few days between everyone, all the fighting ceased. Not only were there no fights, but there was also in fact joy. Joy throughout all of Europe and the world. Citizens, soldiers, countries... everyone felt happy and at peace. It was just like any other Christmas. Even former enemies exchanged kind words or even gifts between one another. Another wonderful miracle of that Christmas week was snow. It fell from the sky and left a blanket of white covering the ground. Things were perfect, though it may only have lasted a few days. Those few days meant the world to everyone, especially two countries who were very close, allies in the Great War, in fact. These countries were Austria-Hungary and German Empire, who were currently living together along with Ottoman Empire, all of them attempting to stay close together due to the war. This break from the war was good for Austria-Hungary and German Empire, allowing the two to become even closer, and even realize hidden feelings they didn't know they had until then. It truly was one special Christmas.

It was early on the morning of December 26th, German Empire having been woken up to Austria-Hungary shaking him and smiling widely.

"Get up! C'mon, it's snowing again!" Austro-Hungary exclaimed, German Empire just groaning softly and pushing him away gently. But, the smaller country pouted and just continued to try getting him out of bed, then trying to even drag him. Even though German Empire was slightly annoyed, he chuckled at Austria-Hungary's persistence. They may have been in the middle of a war, but Austro-Hungary tried to continue being lighthearted and friendly as often as it was possible.

"Alright, alright!" German Empire said, sitting up in bed and sighing while Austria-Hungary just squealed softly like a child. He was practically bouncing up and down out of his excitement. German Empire smiles a bit at his overwhelming joy. It even makes him happy. The smaller country could always find a way to lighten the mood or make someone smile, even if it was unintentional.

"I'm going to go wait in the living room!" The smaller said so German Empire could get ready. Rushing out of the room, Austria-Hungary nearly tripped, making the taller country hold back a laugh. But, he then got out of bed and took a moment to wake up before getting dressed into sweatpants and a cozy sweater. Wearing things like this was unusual for the normally serious and strict country, but it was cold outside, and it really wasn't the best time to catch the flu.

Once German Empire felt he was ready, he walked out of his room and into the living room. Before they went anywhere, he'd definitely need some coffee to help him wake up, still feeling groggy and tired. So, he now went into the kitchen. Austria-Hungary wasn't in the living room like he said he would be, anyway. But, to German Empire's surprise, the other country was in the kitchen. He had two styrofoam cups that were most likely filled with coffee. It seemed Austro-Hungary knew the taller country would want some.
