Amber eyes search through the coming darkness,
Silver furs rustle in the evening breeze,
Slender legs support a slender bodice,
A white tipped tail brushes tiny daisies.
A tawny deer with antlers rising high,
And a white oak leaf upon his forehead,
Trots through the bracken searching for the eyes,
That would otherwise leave him there for dead.
The clearing becomes increasingly bright
As these old enemies exchange glares,
But forget the past to join the fight
In reclaiming what was always theirs.
In order to win, these two must defend
The land they both love to the very end.
