"Flamekit...Flamekit!" The ginger kit heard Bramblekit's hushed whisper.
As she blinked open her eyes, Flamekit could see soft sunlight flittered through the openings of the Nursery. "What is it Bramblekit?" Flamekit questioned.
"There's a Clan meeting! This will be our first Clan meeting and I don't want to miss it, I'll go wake up Spiderkit." The tabby tom replied as he went to go shake his brother.
Flamekit sat up, shaking her fur as Spiderkit was sleepily opening his eyes, yawning, starting to sit up.
"Bramblekit," Spiderkit said as he opened his blue eyes. "Why do you want to see the Clan meeting so badly?"
Bramblekit shrugged. "Come on, you sleepy heads." He nudged Flamekit, urging her to get out the nest.
"Fine, fine, get out of my fur!" Flamekit said a she nudged Bramblekit off her and hopped onto the mossy den floor.
Bramblekit leaped down beside her and walked to the Nursery entrance. Spiderkit and Flamekit walked to their sibling, waiting beside Bramblekit.
"Wait!" Bramblekit mewed, drawing his fluffy tail closer to him. "I don't know if we can be out here, stay close to me."
Flamekit's ginger fur spiked. He didn't know? Flamekit was interested in the meeting, but she didn't know if it mean't getting in trouble over it.
"Hold on," Flamekit said tugging on Bramblekit's tail, making him stumble a bit. "You're not sure if we can be out here? Are you mousebrained?"
"I'm with Flamekit." Spiderkit said stepping up, "I'm not sure if I want to get in trouble," he finished, shifting his light tabby paws.
"Come on!" Bramblekit shouted in a hushed whisper. "We'll just stay behind the Nursery, and see. Then, we can slip back in before anyone notices!"
Flamekit twitched her puffy tail in thought. They were just staying by the Nursery...and if they were quick, they couldn't get caught.
"Okay," Flamekit agreed. "But as long as where quick." She then turned and stared expectantly at Spiderkit. "Are you coming?" She questioned the orange tabby tom.
Spiderkit shuffled his light paws once again as he looked up and sighed. "I'm going." He insisted.
"Then let's go." Bramblekit mewed as he quietly made his way out, moss crackling under him paws.
Flamekit followed him, cringing as her paws cracked dead leaves and twigs on the ground. She wanted to hide, not be seen by every warrior in camp!
Letting her body fall down, the ginger kit tried to mimick the hunting crouch she saw Stonekit learning, lowering herself and softly putting her paws on the ground.
Cats were starting to gather at the base of the rock. Some warriors chatting to one another and others waiting patiently. Grousepaw was sitting next to his mentor, Runningfoot while Nightgaze sat next to him.
The sky was a shade of blueish-gray. The clouds wispy and thin is the sky. It looked as if it would start raining.
Redstar was on the top of the rock, looking over his Clan. Breezeheart and Finchfall sat next to each other at the base of the the rock, exchanging hushed mews.
Flamekit felt Spiderkit bump into her from behind. "Sorry." She apologized as she hurried up and followed Bramblekit behind the Nursery.
She hissed when a stray bramble snagged her fur, and quickly hobbled farther into the mesh.
Bramblekit was a little way in, craining his neck and looking over his siblings, trying to get a good view.
Just as Spiderkit was making his way in, Flamekit felt a pain in her tail. She yelped as she pulled it out from Bramblekit's paw.
"Sorry!" The tom said apologetically. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Flamekit reassured Bramblekit after looking over her tail. "The meeting starting!"
The gathered cats began to quiet down as Redstar stepped up to the top of the rock, signaling he was about to speak.
"I have heard a report form Leafthorn." Redstar bellowed. "If she can come up here, she will tell you what she a has to say."
Redstar paused and the rest of MoonClan watched as gray she-cat hopped up to the LeadersRock, up to where Redstar was.
"What do you think the report is?" Spiderkit asked as he shifted to make more room for himself. Flamekit didn't reply, her attention solely on the meeting.
Redstar took a step back so Leafthorn could address the Clan, she mewed her thanks before quickly moving forward.
Bramblekit lashed his tabby tail in instrest as Leafthorn started to speak. "After we found traces of a fox, my patrol was patrolling our territory when we found BreezeClan scent on our territory."
The clearing exploded into yowls and shouts with warriors shouting their comments. "This is the second time in one moon we've found there scent on our territory!" Poppyspots yowled.
"We should attack!" Clawstorm added, unsheathing his long claws.
Mews of protest started to rise up.
"We cant! Are you fur-brained?"
"No! Clawstorm's right! This is the second time we've spotted them on our land!"
"Maybe it was an accidental...,"
"Accidental two times in a row?"
Redstar let out yowl, telling his Clan to be silent. "Where did you scent BreezeClan?" He asked Leafthorn who was staring down at her Clan.
"Near the Outlook Stones." Leafthorn mewed, speaking of the patch of territory near the BreezeClan border.
Redstar paused, contemplating what he was going to say next. Finchfall waited for his leader to speak, his eyes calm and cool.
"We will not strike yet, but if we scent BreezeClan again, we will send a warning patrol." Redstar yowled.
Most warriors seemed happy with that decision but some warriors objected, their fur starting to rise.
"They don't deserve a warning. The've crossed into our land on too many times." Flamekit heard Sweetscar's low growl.
"Redstar's being fluff-brained." Hissed a warrior Flamekit could not see as Redstar let out another yowl, signaling that the meeting was over.
Flamekit was watching the meeting disperse when Spiderkit lightly tapped her. "Alright, the meetings over, can we please go back into the Nursery?" Spiderkit fretted, his tail waving.
Flamekit found out that they couldn't just yet, and Bramblekit beat her to saying it. "The Clan is still out there, were going to have to find other way in."
Flamekit racked her mind, trying to come up with an idea when Spiderkit's eyes brightened. "Follow me," He said as he scrambled pass his brother and sister to the back of the Nursery.
His siblings followed him to the back of the Nursery we're he started to claw at the tightly packed brambles, biting down on the fronds.
"We can make a small hole that we can slip through." Spiderkit announced, his voice muffled, still clawing at the brambles.
Bramblekit and Flamekit joined in, Flamekit biting down on the brambles, attempting to break them apart, her paws slipping over the dewy grass.
Soon, there was a big enough hole for the kits to slip through. Spiderkit got in first, a piece of ginger tabby fur sticking to one of the brambles as he went in.
Flamekit scurried in, the warm air of the Nursery a contrast of the cool air on the outside. Quietly stepping over Lilykit, she made her way back to Tawnyshade's nest.
Flamekit settled down, her brothers lying down next to her closing their eyes and starting to drift off to sleep, not thinking about the meeting.
But Flamekit lie awake in her nest, she snuggled closer to her mother and closed her eyes tighter but couldn't seem to fall asleep.
'We will not strike yet, but if we scent BreezeClan again, we will send a warning patrol.' If MoonClan isn't striking now, when will they strike? The kit wondered.
