Lucy POV

I couldn't stay at the guild where everyone was flushing their worries and anxiety with mugs of booze and beer. I felt my heart beating anxiously as I jab my keys in the keyhole of my door.

"It's okay Lucy. You'll be fine. Natsu will protect you right?" I repeatedly told myself.

But Natsu would be too focused on his solo mission to even care about you. He's been protecting you all this while but now that you're alone, who will save you?

I took off my coat, hung my bag, and threw myself on the couch. I place my arm over my forehead and sighed heavily.

"Maybe I should do more research to better prepare myself," I muttered.

Without wasting time, I stood up and got ready to take a nice long bath. When the warm water touched my skin, I felt my worries slowly melt away.

"I wonder how Levy-san feels...I bet she's just as afraid as me.." I thought before indulging myself completely in the warm bath and getting lost in my own world.

Levy POV

I wipe off the dust from the thick covers of the library book and put on my red reading glasses. I plan to spend the night before the mission reading up on the magic this wizard use.

"Yo shrimp!"

I knew that voice too well. The chair in front of me was pulled back and the iron giant sat with a huge sly smirk on his face.

"Studying?"

I chuckled and opened the book, "Preparing myself with wisdom, what about you?" I questioned.

Gajeel laid back at the chair and stared at the ceiling.

"Probably going to eat a ton before tomorrow. What better way to spend my last night filling my stomach!" He laughed loudly and was immediately shushed by the people surrounding him.

We were in the library after all.

"Oh sure," I replied blankly.

I rummaged through my bag and took out an orange amulet. The stone was an Imperial Topaz. It was an heirloom passed by my mother from my grandmother. I bring it everywhere I go. However, I've felt insecure about wearing jewelry daily.

"Whatchu got there shrimp? Potato chip on a string?" Gajeel asked.

I made a loud 'tsk' and gently place the amulet on the table.

"It's a family heirloom. I'm planning to cast a spell on it," I muttered.

"What spell?" He raised his non-existent eyebrow.

"A location tracking spell."

"But tracking devices don't work," Gajeel asked while resting his head on his arms.

"We should give it a try before throwing the whole idea away, don't you think? There is a spell that can help detect the location of its user and it gets stronger if it's cast on an item with much value to the user," I explained.

I flipped the book to the correct page almost naturally as I've practically memorised and read all 2,560 of the books in this library. I could feel Gajeel's stares and it made me nervous.

I held up the amulet and put two fingers on the middle of the stone.

I shut my eyes and murmured the spell. A magic circled formed on the heart of the stone and glowing vein-like magic stretched to my arm.

The glow only lasted about 7 seconds before the spell was completed.

"So now what?" Gajeel asked nonchalantly.

"Gajeel, you'd care if I got lost right?" I asked softly, ignoring his question.

Gajeel nodded, "Of course shrimp."

"If I cast a marking on you, you'd be signalled if something ever happen to me and where is my location, provided this amulet stays on my neck," I said.

Gajeel put his arm out, "Go ahead, cast the marking or whatever."

I blinked my eyes twice and tilted my head. Not going to lie, I felt surprise but it's better to rely on Gajeel than Jet or Droy. I wanted to ask Lu-chan but if I went missing, she'd probably be the next victim.

I nodded and put the amulet in his hand. His arm started to glow and a diamond shape mark appeared on his palm and mine.

"Don't let me down okay?" I chuckled, trying not to lose my calm facade.

Gajeel smiled genuinely to me, "Wouldn't do it for the world."

Erza POV

My heart burst into delight at the cute yellow box being presented to me.

"The cake shop was about to close and I suspected you'd like a taste of cake before the mission so I bought two slices for us," Kagura mumbled with a pink blush coloured on her face.

She looked at ground rather than me, I could tell she was nervous.

"Thank you so much Kagura. But I doubt two slices is enough for me-"

Her eyes widened.

"N-no, I mean I was hoping we could seat down and eat the cake together. Maybe share a cup of tea? There's a bench near a bridge and the view of the river is to die for...I'm not sure if you're into these kind of things," She said in a barely audible tone.

I place my hands on her shoulder and forced her to look at me in the eye.

"I would love that," I smiled.

Her face got even redder and her lips trembled too much to even produce a single word.

We sat at the wooden bench and set the cakes on our lap. Kagura poured hot green tea on two cups from her purple metallic flask.

"The river is very placid at night," I commented before taking the first bite of my cake.

Kagura nodded while closing the cap of the flask.

"This is my favourite spot to go to if I ever needed to recollect my thoughts," She replied.

I chuckled.

We were silent for a minute or two.

"What do you feel about this mission?" I asked.

Kagura slightly frowned.

"I'm worried but we can't do anything about that, can we? We would just have to face it with all we've got," She said with a voice filled with faked determination.

I could see right through her.

"Ah I agree on that..." I smiled.

We ate our cakes quietly while occasionally sipping on our tea. Kagura seems disturbed but she brushed it off and maintained a calm expression.

"That was delicious Kagura, thanks again," I exclaimed before closing the empty cake box.

Kagura broke into a small smile, "Thanks for keeping me company," she beamed.
