Lucy POV
"Luce wake up!" A voice rang through my head.
I slowly fluttered my eyes opened and saw Natsu on top of me. I was too exhausted to react.
"What is it?" I groaned.
"It's 7:30."
7:30? I furrowed my eyebrows and pushed him off me. I reach out for my alarm clock and he was right. It was 7:30. Then the realisation hit me.
"The mission!" I shouted while jotting up from bed.
I quickly jumped out of bed and sprinted to the shower.
"Jeez Luce and I thought you're always punctual!" Natsu laughed while I hurry to get ready.
Natsu waited for me. He could've ran off to the guild on time but he waited for me. I felt a sense of gratitude for him and for what had happened last night. Maybe Natsu is mature after all.
Erza POV
All the guild masters were taking attendance. I was eating breakfast with Mira and her siblings when I can't help but notice that Lucy was not around.
"Where's Lucy? Is she late?" I asked Mira, hoping she'll know.
Mira took a sip of her latte and shrugged, "She left immediately after the meeting last night and I was busy with the bar," She replied.
"Hmm," I hummed.
Lucy couldn't have skipped the mission, am I right? Actually, Natsu isn't here as well.
"Mira-nee how do you maintain such a youthful face when you pulled an all nighters last night while working?" Lisanna asked in awe.
I saw Mira's eyebrow twitched for a second.
"It's called getting your shit together Lis," She replied sweetly.
"Hey Erza," Laki greeted me.
"This is unusual. Good morning Laki," I smiled.
She slid a plate of strawberry milkshake on the table.
"It's from somebody," she winked.
I raised an eyebrow, "May I ask who?" I questioned.
I could sense the teasing from Mira approaching soon. Laki shrugged and pointed to a blue hooded figure standing by the door. There were actually about 10 good figures by the door. How did I not notice them?
"Who are those people?" I muttered.
Mira smirked.
"Crime Sorciére," She said in a sweet but teasing manner while licking her spoon that had the latte foam.
Almost naturally, my face turned scarlet red. If Crime Sorciére is here, it means...
"Jelly man probably ordered that for you," Mira said while scooping more foam.
I could see imaginary devil horns on her head.
"That's nice of him.." I whispered shyly.
"You should probably say thank you," Lisanna suggested innocently.
"Great idea Lis!" Mira smirked.
I shook my head.
"My gratitude is evident although it's not expressed," I said, trying to sound professional.
"Sure," Mira teased.
"Shut up Mira!" My voice was trembling greatly.
Mira smirked even wider. I don't think it's even humanly possible to smirk that wide. It got creepy fast.
Suddenly, the guild door burst opened, revealing Natsu and Lucy. Lucy's hair was a mess and she looked like she survived a tornado.
"Sorry I'm late, I woke up late!" Lucy bowed down slightly while Natsu walked off obliviously to start an argument with Gray.
Behind them, I saw a gloomy dark figure approaching the guild. Upon further inspection, I realise it was actually Juvia all alone.
"Juvia looks sad today. I'm guessing Gray rejected her? I heard she was planning to give him some flowers yesterday," I stated.
Mira's smirk turned into an angered expression. For someone who hides her emotions well, Mira is very expressive when she wants to be.
"He slapped her."
My eyes widened. My blood started to boil.
"What? That's rude!" I shouted.
Mira rolled her eyes, "I know. Wait till this mission is over, I'm turning him into fried ice cream," Mira spat with a venom laced voice.
I nodded my head, "Count me in."
"Good morning all, I hope you have rest up and are rejuvenated for today. We will begin our journey at 8:30 to the Evergreen forest by train. For now, attendance will be taken and do have some breakfast while you're at it," Master announced.
Everybody had anxious looks plastered on their faces. Warren was praying at the corner of the guild.
I hope this mission goes smoothly.
Narrator POV
Timeskip
The group arrived at the forest at 6pm in the evening. Everybody stared at the forest as though their lives depended on it. Levy clutched her amulet closely to her and gulped.
"This spell better work," she thought to herself with Gajeel beside her.
The other guilds have split to their respective regions. Crime Sorciére decided to join Fairy Tail.
Juvia had a huge frown on her face. She tried her best to ensure the weather didn't rain to make the mission easier for everybody but she could not contain her sorrow.
"Are you okay Juvia?" Meredy asked while rubbing her best friend's shoulders.
Juvia sighed heavily, "Juvia is fine. Just really tired," she lied.
Meredy saw right through it of course but she chose not to question.
"Meredy if you please?" Master asked.
Meredy let out a tiny 'oh' before running to the front of the crowd.
"Meredy will cast a linking spell on all of us to alert each other if we face a grave situation," Master said.
He looked at Meredy and nodded.
Meredy lifted her hand and a pink bracelet appeared on everybody's wrist.
"Warren will communicate with all of us through telekinesis so I urge you not to use the connection unless really needed to. The forest is dense and it's difficult for Warren to get through to every single one of us," Master said.
Warren smiled proudly and nodded
"Stay safe my children," Master added sadly.
He was the first to enter the forest. It was covered with luscious green plantation and tall trees. The forest was so dense that there was barely a light source. The whole forest consistently smelled like rainwater so the dragon slayers were unable to sniff out their comrades. They could only rely on each other's trust and Meredy's linking magic to help each other out.
