Work,
College
And more work. Things kept following the same pattern, each and every single day of my life.
I had gotten 2 jobs. One at a Pizza place and the other at a cloth store. If Aunt Hilda ever found out that I was even working, she'd kill me. But the only reason I was working, was to save up money for my baby. Even if I had been offered so much support, I still couldn't rely on people for everything. I didn't know how Marcus or my parents would react if I had told them so I did this for back up.
The whole month of November went by like a blur to me, yet I still couldn't believe it was the second week of December, going into the third. It was already snowing everywhere, and Aunt Hilda and I were coming back from my Antenatal care at the hospital. Honestly words couldn't explain how much I loved the woman. She was so cool with everything I wondered If I had ever seen her angry. She had agreed with me to keep my baby a secret from my parents until I was ready to tell them. Other Aunties wouldn't even think twice before telling on me. My mom's birthday is on the 21st so she wants me to come home for Christmas earlier. Aunt Hilda and I were shopping for a gift for her since we were going to Denver by road in a few days. Wasn't my idea, she wanted me to test out the new car Marcus got for me. And from Denver, she would fly to New york to meet Logan and his family. He had proposed to her on the first of December and she said yes. I couldn't be happier for her, getting married at the age of 26, pretty and Elegant.
"Salone" she called my name and I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Yes? Sorry I was.....
" Thinking again? Come on darling, help me pick between these colours. Which one will fit your mom better. The white coat? or the Grey one?
"Grey has always looked good on her. I'll be right back, I want to check the accessory section." I told her and she nodded. My mom always fancied Jewelry, so I decided to check for something I knew she would like. I was going through them when I heard a laugh from a girl inches away beside me. She was with a guy, at the ring section and they looked very happy just by staring at them. I looked away in Sadness. I would never know how Marcus would react unless I told him right?. I don't want him to feel I'm forcing myself on him, when he was the one who let me go. And besides, he never even tried to reach out to me or even call me, and then I realised something.
I had taken my SIM out and gotten a new one. What if he did reach out to me but I didn't know because I never got it. Suddenly, I wanted to find out just to get some clarity about how the whole thing went down. Eagerly, I picked a full set of jewelry for my mom and went over to aunt Hilda, who was waiting for me at the Cashier.
We were almost home when I got a call from Heather. Her voice sounded like she had been crying.
"Heather? Are you okay?
"Salone, I hope this isn't too much to ask but can you come over?" She sniffed a little waiting for my response.
"Ofcourse. I'll be there in 15."
Aunt Hilda dropped me off at Heather's and eagerly, I waited at the big gate which had a camera monitor. It opened the moment I showed my face and I walked in quickly. This was my first time being here since they were always the ones to come over. The house was really big. I wasn't even sure to call it a mansion cause it looked bigger, with a pool at the center and a bar right outside under a shed. On another side were all manner of cars. Holly opened up and hugged me.
"When did she get back from Wembley?" I asked. Heather had flown to England a few days ago to see Jesse cause he demanded she urgently came.
" This evening." I walked in sighting the clean environment with it's unique design. Her family was indeed very rich and always busy. Their mom had passed away when they were young, Allison's mom was the one who came in and went out as she pleased. Speaking of Allison, Holly said she had moved out to live in a sorority house with her crew. Good for her.
She led me up the curved staircase where house keepers greeted us as we walked by. For the first time, Heather was in bad shape, with swollen eyes and messy her. I embraced her immediately trying as much as possible to make her pain go away.
"Has she told you anything?" I asked Holly as she watched her sister clueless.
"No, I just came in a few minutes ago and I met her crying. I tried asking her, but she kept sobbing.
" Heather, please tell us what's wrong," I cleaned her tears and sat her down on her bed, while Holly squatted in front of us. She calmed down and finally began to speak."So uh, a few days ago I flew to Wembley in north-west London England, just to see Jesse. We spoke a little and things were going really great , until he told he had a child with some fitness model of the name Rebecca Halliday. He then took me to see the baby. She was just a few moths old. Jesse made it very clear that they were not on good terms when she discovered she was pregnant but it was his child so he accepted her. Rebecca looked at me like I was next in line to get heart-broken. I was speechless the moment he told me, with a lot of awkwardness around the area. There was nothing for me to say. He had kept this from me right from when we met again. I loved babies, so Jesse carried her, and then handed her over to me and surprisingly, she didn't cry. When it was time to go I gave her back to Rebecca and was about to step out of the house when she grabbed me by the arm.
" If I were you I would break up with him Before he dumps you too. He's done the same with Jena frumes, he did the same with me and you might just be next in line. Stay woke sweetheart, Cheers." And she let go.
"Those were her words, and it kept me thinking. What was I getting myself into, he already had a child with someone else that wasn't me, and had done so many other stuff I might not even be aware of. It was all too much to take in so I requested he gave me space and I flew back to Canada."
Holly and I looked at each other in disbelief.
Then I spoke.
"First up, Heather, dry your tears. If anyone's supposed to be crying, it should be him and not you. And I get how you feel about him not telling you since the time you met him but maybe he was scared to loose you. And the fact that he told you a few months into your relationship proves that he really cares for you and doesn't want you to risk finding out all by your self. Also Rebecca? Please I'm sure she was just jealous that you were with him instead of her. She's the crazy ex."
"Exactly." Holly echos after my voice.
"Salone's right. You shouldn't feel this way. You've known Jesse like way back. You're the one okay? Whenever you're ready to talk with him, just give him a call."
"Thank you both for your advice." She hugged both of us at the same time. I slept there that night, and phoned aunt Hilda to let her know that I was doing so.*
Few days later, My aunt and I were loading up the Mercedes for our road trip to Colorado Denver. A trip of over 15 hours was no joke.A/N: We are a few chapters away from the END!! Hooray! Thank you to everyone who has read the book this far. The end is worth it I promise!😀💯💗
