"Is she going to be ok?" Mason's voice was unusually bitter and quiet. I could hear him, but I couldn't open my eyes. No matter how bad I wanted to open my eyes, they just wouldn't open.

"Yes, she'll be ok." I didn't recognize this voice.

"Why did this happen to her?" Mason's voice was stern.

"Where are her parents?" Who is talking to Mason?

"She's waking up." I finally opened my eyes to see Mason and a doctor standing at the foot of my bed.

Where are my parents? I thought.

"How are you feeling, Avery?" Dr. Grey asked. I looked at the name tag he had hanging from his pocket.

"I feel light headed and the light is bothering my eyes. I just really want to know when I can leave." All I wanted to do was get home.

"Soon. You'll leave in a little bit, we're just going to run a few more tests and then you'll be all set to go."

"Thank you."

I watched as the doctor left the room and I could feel Mason's eyes on me, he kept his eyes on me the entire time. I finally met his gaze. His gaze went from warm to cold. I turned away, not wanting to cause a scene, or start a fight. Although there wasn't any reason for a fight to start between us. I was just being paranoid.

We didn't say anything for a while. Every once in a while I would turn my head, and he was still staring. The silence was getting uncomfortable. I wanted to leave already.

"Are you going to say something? Before I go crazy?"

"And why exactly would you go crazy?"

"It's too quiet. Plus, I just really want to go home."

"You can't leave yet, Avery."

"Yeah, yeah. I know." I rolled my eyes.

"Are you ok?"

"Sure. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You blacked out in my car on the wa- never mind."

"Where we going anyways?"

"Why did you black out?" He asked, his eyes were warmer than before. He walked over to the chair and sat down.

"I don't know. Where were we going?"

"Please don't tell me you're starving yourself."

"Are you kidding me? I'm not starving myself. Why won't you tell me where we were going?"

He looked away and took out his phone. I realized in that moment, he wasn't going to answer my question.

"I'll be back. I have to take this call, it's from work."

I nodded and watched him walk outside of the room.

Why isn't he at work? He's usually at work. What time is it anyways?

I looked around to see if my phone was anywhere, but it was nowhere to be found.

I heard footsteps outside of the door and then Mason came in.

"What time is it?"

"It's 11."

"Why aren't you at work?"

"You're in the hospital."

"And?"

"Really?"

"Really what?" I asked.

"You're in the hospital. You blacked out in the middle of the car ride. I was the one who brought you to the hospital, you think I'm just going to leave here alone?"
