(A sound of the phone ring)
.
..
Putting his pen beside the report he just read, he then took the phone and answered it.
"Yes?"
"Mr.Wang, the new assistant manager assigned for our division is already coming. Now she's waiting for you in the waiting room. Should I tell her to come in?" His secretary asked.
"Ah... yes. Just let her come in. I'll wait." He answered before he looked towards his watch and noticed that it's already one hour passed since he began to read the internal audit report from his subordinate.
"Yes, Mr.Wang, I'll tell her to come in."
"Thank you." He hung up the phone.
He then took the report again and read it carefully, pages by pages, one by one, and he frowned at some of the findings.
So the most important thing to do now for us is to make a new system for our coal and mining division. They need a new system to record the sales and to count the royalties or taxes that we should pay to the government. And with smaller companies as our subsidiaries with the different resources they have, we need more than an excel table to record all that. And with a system, that supposed to be easier to make a report from it.
(The sound of the door being knocked)
"Come in." He answered without lifting his head from the report.
(The sound of the door being opened, and then, closed)
.
..
It was around five seconds of silence before he began to talk, "Please sit down, Miss..." he trailed his words as soon as he lifted his head from the report and looked towards the new employee.
Another five seconds of silence that felt like forever for him at that time. Seeing someone that he hadn't met for quite a long time immediately petrified him and made him suddenly losing his ability to talk, and he just looking at her without words.
.
..
"Lian Xin?" He finally talked before gulping and stood up from his seat and slowly walked towards the girl whom he called Lian Xin before. Stopping right in front of her, he then took some few seconds to stare at her, half in disbelief, and another half in amazement. He then extended his hand for a handshake to her and took a deep breath before talking, "Lian Xin... Hi..." he paused, "Nice to see you. Long time no see. Wait..." he paused again and did a quick count inside his brain, "How many years that we didn't meet?" He asked.
"Exactly ten years, Yu Zheng Ge..." she paused, shaking her head slightly and correcting her choice of words before she then looked straight into his eyes, "I mean, Sir." She answered nonchalantly, without any expression at her face. Whether she's also surprised with their sudden meeting, he didn't know it for sure. Because he couldn't see any hint of surprise at her face. She's just... pulling out a calm and confident face towards him.
He chuckled before he rubbed the back of his neck, "Ah... ten years, right? Quite a long time."
"Yes. Since my 18th birthday." She answered again, with a plain tone, as plain as she could, and the memories of that moment suddenly struck him and made him remember about it.
