BELLAS POV

I stood there awkwardly, gulping. I didn't know what to do or say, I wasn't so welcoming if you ask me. Thankfully, I heard footsteps behind me signaling that Aunt Maria was on her way to the rescue.

"Hey! Come on in guys!" She exclaimed with a huge smile, gently pushing me to the side. I sighed heavily. Right now what I wanted is for the ground to open up and swallow me.

Kai's mom walked in first before he followed along, Aunt Maria then led them to the kitchen, and was talking to them about what she had made for dinner. Typical Maria.

I closed the door behind them and took a deep breath. This shouldn't be happening, out of all people, Aunt Maria had invited Kai's mom along with him. He was probably most likely forced to come here, but Julian was nowhere in sight.

"Bella! Come here!" Aunt Maria called our. I had to realized that I had spent minutes standing against the door, praying that some miracle would happen and they'd leave the house. I don't know what has gotten into me but I sure as hell wasn't comfortable right now.

I slowly walked to the kitchen, taking my time but again, I wanted this to be all over and then they'd go home. I was lucky that it was the weekend and I wouldn't have faced Kai till Monday, so I was slightly nervous for school again.

Taking a seat across from Kai, since Aunt Maria had taken my usual seat that was across from his Mom, "Oh my, Maria you have a lovely house." Kai's mom spoke up, complimenting us. I shyly smiled, before glancing at Kai, who had his head down and his earphones around his neck, he looked like he was using his phone.

"Thank you dear," Aunt Maria thanked her, she then looked around at the empty plates, "Why don't you go ahead and serve yourself." She then sent a smile towards her. Kai's mom nodded before nudging Kai, he looked up and rolled his eyes before putting his phone away.

Aunt Maria and I let them serve themselves first before we did the same. For the next minute or so, the only sound that was heard is the knifes and fork scraping against the plate, "So, how old is Kai?" Aunt asked, trying to start a conversation.

"Seventeen." Kai replied, his jaw was set tight as he held the fork tightly, playing with the Mash. I noticed that he looked different, style wise, he wore shorts and a plain black t-shirt. No hoodie, like he would usually wear.

"Oh is that so? Bella here is seventeen as well, you guys would be great friends!" Maria exclaimed. I pursued my lips, wanting to say something but stopped myself. I didn't wanna embarrass myself some more; only if Aunt Maria knew, if only.

I heard a low snicker coming from Kai. Was he actually laughing about it? I mean, it's really the first time I have seen an emotion come out of him. He's usually just, plain.

"Kai here told me that they go to school together." The mother replied. We may be in the same school, but dear lord, the amount of times I've been trying to befriend him is hideous, and for some reason, it's always me that messes it up.

For the rest of the dinner, it was just Aunt Maria and Kai's mom that we're having a conversation. Sure, I hopped into the conversation for a little but I was too shy. The remaining time, I felt Kai's eyes on me, but I never looked or even glanced at him. I don't think I'll be able to do it sneakily anymore, we all know what had happened when I did.
