On Draco's 16th birthday, his father had gotten him a very special present. Lucius had come to Draco that morning with a stern, yet fond tone. He wished him a happy birthday and placed a black box before his son. As soon as Lucius had gone down for breakfast, Draco ripped open the gift. In front of him lay a black and white striped King snake.
Jumping in surprise, he had stared at it curiously. He walked cautiously over to it and sat down once more. Slowly he had reached his hand forward to pet the snake's scales. Smooth and cold. Draco decided he liked it. After doing some research on its species, he found out that it would change its feelings towards others according to what Draco thought of them. He chose the name to be Hendrix.

Upon arrival at the Hogwarts entrance, almost every head peered around to take a look at Draco's newest gift. The snake immediately started hissing at the majority of the student body, leading to friends ushering each other to leave and head for the boats quickly. Draco wore a smug expression, proud. He sashayed around the platform, throwing dirty looks with his smaller companion doing the same from his shoulder.
Drawing nearer to Potter, Draco grinned, thinking of how Hendrix would most likely attack or bite him due to his obvious massive loathing towards the boy. However, he was surprised to see Hendrix stay silent. Suddenly, Hendrix slowly slithered off from Draco's arm onto the other's shoulders, leaving Draco confused and appalled. Draco refused to accept why Hendrix did that.
The platform was hushed with not a single person moving, probably far too confused to move. Harry, on the other hand, froze in lack of understanding what was happening and because he did not wish to cause harm the snake by accident. The only movement taking place was Hendrix beginning to rub his head affectionately against Harry's cheek. Everybody quickly murmured in bewilderment to one another.
Draco was starting to turn a very noticeable pink. 'Damn you, pale skin!'
Harry hesitantly rose one gentle hand to the snake and began stroking its belly. The creature rolled over in satisfaction and closed it eyes, leaving a slither of its tongue hanging out. Harry put his fingers under the stomach, picking it off his neck. Stepping forward, Potter placed the snake delicately back onto Draco's arms.
"I like your snake, Malfoy," was all Potter said before swiftly turning around and leaving for thestral lead boats with his two sad excuse friends of the Golden trio.
Draco was clearly now a lively looking crimson that could challenge a Red Cardinal itself. He was shaking in anger and humiliation. He dust himself off and composed his appearance once more, but not before glaring at everyone for good measure, sauntering away to the boats himself.

Over the past few months, there have been many occasions where Draco and Hendrix bump into Potter, and Hendrix gets really nice and affectionate towards Potter. That receives some weird looks. Each time it ends with Potter coming extremely close to place the snake back onto Draco. Draco's feelings for Harry is increasingly growing bigger due to the compliments Potter gives him every single time.
For instance, "Hey Malfoy! Your snake is really cool!" or "Wow, his white stripes look really similar to your eyes..." or "He's so cute and sassy! Just like you!" Does that count as flirting?

Back in Draco's room, Hendrix and his owner sat on their bed. Draco was ranting to Hendrix about Potter. 'Just the usual' thought Hendrix. He had learned a lot about this Potter boy within the first day, including the fact that he is a parselmouth.
Normally Draco would rant about Harry saying things like "Everyone thinks he's so smart, wonderful Potter with his scar and his broomstick!" But today, he was telling Hendrix off for being so friendly with Harry.
"You have to stop being so nice to Potter, Hendrix! I can flaunt you anywhere, but with Potter present, no! No matter how much I insult him, yell at him or how mad I get with him, you are always so buddy buddy with him! You are exposing my true feelings, you snake!" Draco continued his yelling and pacing.
Hendrix quietly slithered out of his cage, unnoticed by an angry Draco. The snake slowly slipped out under the door, out the common room and made a B-line for the Gryffindor tower.
When Hendrix arrived at the door, he was surprised to see Harry walking out with his hands in his pockets, looking deep in thought. Picking up speed, the snake headed for Harry's legs, wrapping himself around them. Stumbling, Harry fell to the ground. They both sat there staring at each other.
Finally, Harry spoke up with an eyebrow raised, "Hey Hendrix, did you need something or did Malfoy lose you?"
"I needed to talk to you."
"Oh? What about?"
Once again, the snake hissed, "My owner has been showing a lot of different feelings for you. I am hoping to help him by telling you that he has hidden feelings for you."
Harry froze. His eyes widening and mouth falling open much like a fish. He sat still for a few minutes, ignoring the summer salts his stomach was doing. Shaking his head, he stood up.
"I believe I return his feelings. I will be sure to talk to hi-m about it. Thank you for telling me, Hendrix." Harry said, subconsciously slipping back into English.
Right then, Draco was rounding the corner looking for Hendrix, having realized a few minutes ago that his snake had left. 'What? Is that Potter and Hendrix?' Draco stopped to listen, 'Thank you for telling me? Oh shit! What have you told Potter, Hendrix?'
Draco strode (ran) over to Harry and yelled, "Potter! What are you doing with my snake!"
Harry lifted his head to look at Draco as a smirk appeared on his face. "Oh Malfoy! Hendrix was just wandering around, and I just so happened to find him."
'Lies.'
"Potter..." Draco growled, walking over to him and grabbing him by the collar, "What. Did. He. Tell. You?" Even though it was in the most menacing voice Draco could muster, Potter didn't even bat an eye. Rather, Potter looked amused.
"Do you really want to know?" Potter asked, rolling the R. He rose an eyebrow and leaned forward, as if daring Draco to inquire.
"Yes," Draco replied, started to have an internal panic attack.
Instead of telling Draco, Harry just leaned back, closed his eyes, and hummed.
'The git!'
"Okay then," He started, "He told me that you are in love with me."
This time, Draco froze. "W-wha?" He stuttered. Remembering what was happening, he composed himself again. "That is absolutely absurd."
"You don't sound so sure of yourself, Draco~" Harry purred. He leaned back in, their lips just centimeters away.
'He called me Draco,' that caught him off guard, 'and why the heck does he sound so hot right now?'
"I-I am," He stuttered again.
"Merlin, I can't even talk around him, fuck me," Draco sighed angrily in his mind. At least he thought he did.
"Gladly," Harry whispered, breath hot on Draco's ear. Then, he tilted his head to the right, and their lips met in a sweet, chaste kiss.
"You're bloody welcome for the help you got to get together!" Came an annoyed hiss. Although, that was only heard distantly as Harry carried Draco to his room, lips still connected.
