Part 10

Day by day, week by week, month by month. The time flew by.

Easter was now 5 months along and her thigh has just a scar now.

Cody has been fussing over her more and she was getting annoyed by it.

We were in our room.

Easter was laying down, smiling. She had her left arm behind her head and the other was rubbing her belly.

I was sitting on my bed, kept glancing to her belly. She noticed and asked, "Do you want to listen to her?"

I nodded. As I got up, I had a flashback of Rebeca. When she let me listen. I gave a smile at the memory.

I laid my head down and I couldn't help but smile. "I can hear her heartbeat."

Ever since Easter was 3 months pregnant, she had a feeling it would be a girl. So, for the last 2 months we've been calling the baby a her.

Cody had said that he didn't care if it was a boy or a girl, he just wanted the baby to be healthy.

Easter gave me a big smile then frowned and sighed.

I was confused.

Easter explained, "Back home before this mess we could go to our closest hospital, they would hook you up to a machine." She paused taking a shaky breath. "The machine let you see your baby and hear it's heartbeat." Her voice cracked.

I could tell that she was on the verge of tears, so I gave her a big hug. She cried into my shoulder.

I felt bad for her. We've all been through so much, but her hormones were making it much more difficult for her to keep it together and hide her feelings.

Cody doesn't know how hard it's been for her, she's been keeping it from him. We have all been keeping it from him.

She keeps telling me it's because she doesn't want to worry him. But I know it's because she doesn't want to look weak in front of him.

But I can't blame her because I do hate looking weak in front of others as well.

We sat and talked for a couple of hours.

Cody would come in every now and then to check on her.

She is so right, he is such a worry wort.
