"If only I wasn't this stupid." (Y/N) commented."If only my mom and dad teached me the basic conversational skills. I'm scared to talk to any of these people. Can you two do it and I'll just stand behind you?"

"It's okay (Y/N), we got it. Besides, we love your incompetent side." Ren laughed.

They were while walking down the busy streets of a small village in which Akatsuki were last spotted.

"Don't worry, we actually think it's very cute." Sora smiled.

"Very cute." Ren confirmed and gently patted (Y/N)'s head.

(Y/N) face burned up and her heart filled with warmth. She loved her best friends as much as she loved her family, however there was a point in time where Ren had a special place in her heart. (Y/N) and Sora always got along as brother and sister at the academy, but at the same time she admired Ren from afar. There was kindness in his smile, a gentleness. It wasn't the same as Sora's. Ren's was more bold, charming, captivating. It was the smile of one who laughed with ease and saw every person for what they were under the behaviour they tried to present. He was the kind of person who lived how he believed people should, as if he were sunshine that only radiated from the best aspects of those he met, their flaws entirely invisible to his gaze. (Y/N)'s feelings turned into a special platonic bond as Ren was getting closer to her and Sora. Over time she developed crushes on other people and forgot about the feelings she once had for her best friend. When the time came for Team 5 to be formed she could only call Ren her second brother. 

That's at least how she perceived it. Everyone else, especially Sora, knew that if the situation was any different her feelings would've never changed. Sora believed they weren't gone at all, just buried somwhere deep down in her complicated psyche. He'd always say how the only chance of (Y/N) ending up with somebody else was if the person she meets is louder and bolder than Ren. All Sora's bets were on Ren and (Y/N).

(Y/N) hated to talk to adults. She could easily talk to younger people and even her peers, but adults were where she drew the line. Getting (Y/N) to feel comftrable enough to be relaxed around their sensei was a real challenge for Ren and Sora when they were younger. That's why even on missions they took care of all the necessary talking that had to be done. This time was no different.

After asking around about the Akatsuki members spotted around the village they obtained a lot of contradicting information. One person claimed an unknown blonde boy was spotted simply strolling around the town earlier that day, but they weren't sure if he was wearing a cloak. The other person swore they saw a duo walking in the woods, this time carrying a dead body. One lady even insisted she saw two people with black cloaks camping in the woods earlier that morning, but one of the two supposed "men" was actually a really beautiful blonde woman.

"Umm... So what do you guys think?"(Y/N) asked after yet another confusing conversation with a local.

"I think nobody actually saw the Akatsuki and everyone is just telling us a modified rumour they heard. We can't trust any of them." Sora replied.

"Well, if we just merge all the information together we get the basic idea. They were around for a couple of days and were last seen early this morning if the lady was telling the truth. We'll just have to trust her on that one since it seemed the most believable. Also by what we heard it's not Itachi Uchiha and his partner." Ren concluded.

"Itachi Uchiha was around our age when he was last seen in the village two years ago. Sensei told us his genjustu was more powerful than Sora's. Taken that into account, in all honesty, what a relief it's not Itachi." (Y/N) said.

"After he showed up everything went downhill pretty much. Thankfully, Naruto has some conviction to bring that emo kid Sasuke back to the village." Ren frowned.
