Happiest

A more personal poem compared to the rest.

"Your love lays me down
to a peaceful slumber
with scents of a melted candle
preying on the extract
in these vanilla fields

A warzone so surreal
you can hear it clench defeat
overjoyed in the respect
that you are all it seeks
so even if I say
I would love you less today
it wouldn't mean a thing
my heart would still jump to spring

it's unjust but it's whole
it's unfair but it's home...

My days have them numbered
a euphoria in every corner
singularly transparent
by the epiphany of my stutter
for it is never my own
you are that weakness
you are my gravestone

when I listen to the Carpenters
from that old hymn back in the day
I imagine birds flying high
I remember singing in the rain
I remember close to you
I remember the summer as it blazed

Your tears I have them harbored
they explode like canons in time
holding your waist, tongue-tied
as we dance underneath the light
each step a certain practice
fixed gazes that fill with you
can I have this dance
in this high school musical for two?

I remember the past so clearly
and I have trouble growing up well
for I fear worst, the weary
that perhaps that's all I know
but you told me, you spared me
you loved in a different blow
and I am still passing time
I still can't overflow

I looked through the notebook
and I quote the man till then
it'll be hard, we'll have to work
it's what you want, even if it hurts...

What do you want?

Such a legendary phrase

I aspire to be a musician
in this la la land of ours
but I pray you won't regret a thing
over the passing hour
I hope I won't get to name a restaurant
that reminds us who we are
because we could be who we are
changing, growing
distant, but never apart

If I had three solid wishes
I'd give them all to you
even if all that you say back
is loving food more than what's due
but that's rather okay
at least I know you're still you...

I can't promise the best of endings
but a journey to stay true
I don't have a magic carpet
but we can stick to love as a rule

Six solid years of waiting
nothing compares that clue
that you are the proof

I never thought I would require
to love amongst and be inspired

Maybe I might overthink
and see to it every code that brings
but one thing is for sure

I am the happiest with you..."
