Crikey! You're adorable (Robert Irwin x reader)

You live in Queensland Australia and you decided to get a job at the zoo with your best mate. Turns out you would be getting very close with your long time crush. For this one Rob is 19 and you're 18
(For context, my 'father' spent a fair bit of time in Australia and I'm just using the sayings that he said around me and that I use quite a lot)

The sound of your phone's alarm buzzed through your ears and you slowly opened them. "Oh that's right. I start my first day today." You said to yourself and dragged your body out of your bed and into your bathroom. You had a shower and dried your hair. You applied a small amount of makeup to hide that you barely sleep. You walked back into your room and on your chair by your desk you had your khaki shirt and and some blue jeans and a pair of combat boots.

You walked downstairs to your best mate who actually made you toast and coffee. "G'day mate. First day today!" You smiled.

"I know. It's crazy we landed the same job. It's the same job we've wanted since we were kids." She said. "Dreams do come true."

You both ate your brekkie together and talked and laughed about the good old days being in school to where you are now. And how after today your lives will be different.

"I made you lunch last night." You said as you pulled out two lunch boxes and slid one across the table to your best mate. You both put your boxes in your bags and you left to get into your car and drive. You were blasting band like AkkaDakka, Queen and many more until you arrived.

You walked in together to the front desk and signed in. You had your manager Terri waiting for you. You obviously knew all about her, Bindi and Rob. For ages you've had a crush on Rob but never told your mate because you didn't want that to stop her from working in the zoo.

"G'day girls. Welcome to the zoo. We're so glad you're here. We've seen a rise our customers and with that we used the extra money to get endangered animals so we can help with breeding. But this means we have to transport current animals out of the enclosures into their temporary ones until their new ones are done. We actually have one of our crocs that's being done today. His name is Graham." She said as she led you outside of what you presumed to be Graham's enclosure. "So on your training days, you were taught by Wes on how to jump crocodiles. Who's comfortable with it?" She asked you.

You look at your best mate and back at Terri. "I am." You say bravely. Whereas (B/FN) shakes her head.

"Okay (Y/N), that's good to hear because Graham has some serious anger issues. (B/F/N), you'll be pulling the rope with Bindi, Chandler, Nick, Wes and I. (Y/N) you'll be head jumping with Rob and the others. Just follow Robs command." She calmly says.

You and (B/F/N) look at each other and back at Terri with smiles across your face. It's your first shift and you get to do a massive Croc jump with your long time crush. You were excited but scared. This was kind of a big deal but you showed no fear.

You walked in and met the team. Terri introduced you and you notice Rob instantly smiling at you. Terri then began explain how everything would work and then they  started to set up. You walked off with the rest of the jump team and they made you feel very welcomed.

"Hey (Y/N)? After this do you wanna get lunch together?" Rob asked you.

You gazed at him for a while. "Uh sure" you stutter. "It'd be great to get to know you. And you can call me (N/N)." You added.

"Crikey you're adorable!" He said quickly.

"What was that?" You asked.

"Nothing. Get ready though, we'll be needed shortly." He said before you turned around and saw the rest of the group getting ready to go.

It had begun. The ropes were on Graham and they just need the jump team. You stood behind Rob and the group was given the okay to jump.

"Ready? 1..2..3Go!" Robert commanded. You and the others all jumped on Graham.

"Keep it going!" Terri called as the rope team was pulling the rope, leading Graham into the box.

It wasn't long before everything was done and sorted. You sat in the ground next to (B/F/N). You were out of breath already. You were talking about how you found it and how well it went for you. Robert walked over and said hello to (B/F/N) before looking at you

"Wanna go grab some food?" He said with a warm smile.

"Sure just give me a second. I need to talk to (B/F/N)." You replied, giving him a smile back.

"No worries. Don't take too long." He winked and walked off a bit.

"Excuse you missy but when we're you going to tell me?" She said to you.

"Oh bugger off will ya? I've liked Rob as a celebrity crush for a while and before we jumped Graham he asked me if I wanted to go get some lunch with him and I agreed." You said.

"Girrrrlll. Tell me these things. Go get him tiger." She gave you a little push and a sassy finger wave.

"You suck." You say to her quietly before getting up and walking over to Rob.

"Shall we?" He said in a jokingly way and held his arm out for you to hold on. You linked arm with his like you were kids or something.

"We shall!" You replied with a little giggle

"And we shall skip!" He said and with that you both started skipping

On your way to the cafe you skipped, talk and he'd stop by a few animal enclosures and talked about them. You were fascinated by his love for animals. He'd crack jokes, make a few remarks making him sound like a child. He was everything you thought.

"Lunch is on me. Gotta treat the newbie right." He said as you guys skipped over to the cafe, still arm in arm.

"First, I bought my own lunch. Second, I'm paying the next time." You smiled. You looked into his blue eyes and almost got lost in them.

"Ah come on. You really going to be like that?" He joked.

"Equality my dear friend." You said.

"I'll let it slide only because- nevermind." He cut himself off from finishing his sentence.

"Nonono. What were you saying?" You asked

"Crikey you're adorable." He said.

"I'm not adorable." You laughed

"I can tell you're gonna fit in just fine here (Y/N)." He flashed a smile and a wink
