Marinette's Path to True Love

Chapter 8: Unexpected Change

After school the next day, Marinette walks home with Luka, with a big smile on her face. Ever since they started dating, Marinette felt a lot happier than before. However, this smile quickly fades away, as Lila stands in front of them.

"Hello, Marinette. I see you've made some new friends," mocks Lila. "Well Lila, as a matter of fact us two are more than just friends," snaps Marinette. "Awww that's so sweet," she teases them some more. "Well, what do you want anyway?" "I was looking to see if... Luka can help me on this music thing I need to get done, for this project of course." "What project? We don't have any music project at the moment." "Oh, silly Marinette, this is for some other stuff outside of school."

Marinette takes Luka aside for a minute. She whispers, "Luka, you know she is lying. That trickster never lets me be peaceful." "It's fine Marinette, I'm always on your side. But there's no harm in just helping her out." "I guess so, but be wary around her." "Of course Marinette."

They go back to Lila. "Ok Lila, I'll help you out with your project, when shall we meet?" asks Luka. "Right now of course!" "Alright then, I was just hanging out with Marinette, but I guess we'll hang out later then." "I need this project done soon, Marinette will wait... right Marinette?" Marinette complies, while keeping in all her anger towards Lila.

At the Couffaine house boat, Luka tunes his guitar, ready to record music for Lila. Lila asks Luka, "How long have you two been dating?" "Not very long, though I've been in love with Marinette for a while." "So has she told you her secret yet?" "What secret?" "That she found you very annoying, and that you got in the way of her crush for Adrien." "Marinette would never think badly of anyone, I'm sure you have just mistaken her." Lila stops her attempt, as she sees Luka is too deeply in love with Marinette to be changed.

Lila then looks over at Luka's collection of musical items. "What's this special guitar over here?" "Oh, that's something I just got recently. It's a present for Marinette when we celebrate our first month together." Lila grabs it. "Can we use this guitar to record?" "Sorry Lila, but I want to reserve it for Marinette to use first." Lila then drops the guitar on the floor, breaking it. "Oops," she says sarcastically.

Luka dashes to the floor, to look at the guitar."Oh no, this was my special gift for Marinette!" He sits there in silence, asan akuma enters his miraculous – the ouroboros bracelet.... (to be continued)
