Chapter 13: The Memories of an Old Friend

"Appa...wake up please...."

"Amma? Can you hear me? Wake Appa up!"

"Wake up..."

The water leaking from the corners of the boat was slowly rising around the family of three. The parents of the little boy had committed suicide only a few hours before. The bottle of pills fell loose from the father's hand, causing the white beads to scatter everywhere.

"Appa...Amma... wake up.."

Seungmin jolted upright into a sitting position. He took a few shaky breaths before turning his head to the side.

"That's two times today. Waking up in a unfamiliar room.." he muttered under his breath. The unusual softness of the sweatshirt he was wearing caught his attention.

"When did I get this?"

Seungmin jumped when the bedroom door slowly started to open.

"Oh, your up."

Seungmin's finger twitched when he saw the person's face. He looked strangely familiar to Seungmin. The man walked into the room with a mug in his hands. He placed the mug on the table next to the bed Seungmin was sitting on.

"Mr. Park?"

The man turned his head slowly to Seungmin.

"Is that you?"

He nodded.

Seungmin looked down at his hands, and fiddled his fingers together. Jimin sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Where am I then?"

"You passed out at school...and Minjae brought you here."

Seungmin's bottom lip curled up. He raised his hands to his face, and cupped his mouth. Jimin looked at the wall across from him and smiled.

"Don't you know?"

Seungmin lifted his head to look at the older.

"He went to America for a few years."

"I have to go to The States in three days."

"You two were really close those few days."

"I can be your three day friend then."

Seungmin squeezed his eyes shut. He thought for a few moments.

"Minjae...is Song Minjae?"

Jimin nodded slowly. Seungmin felt a singular tear tread down his cheek, onto his hand.

"That's right...and he's back, Seungmin."
