Waking up.
Running.
Tripping.
Frantic button pushing.
This was the cycle that the universe deemed acceptable every morning of Tobias's Life. He could just fall back asleep after his alarm rang for the fourth time. But his tuition was worth a lot more than a couple hours of sleep. Hell, college work was haunting him now, he couldn't even begin to imagine how the debt wold chase him in the future.
So instead of sleeping after he threw his phone across the room when waking up, he got up, haphazardly threw some clothes on his back (if he hadn't fallen asleep with them on, that is) and grabbing his backpack, shot out of his apartment. Though 'apartment' is definitely overselling it, it was more like a large bedroom with a small bathroom attached to it.
And so another day started, and once again did the universe decide to torture him. Flinging his poor phone across the room, Tobias tore the sheets from around his body. He shot into the bathroom - not before slipping on the cheap wooden floor- and ripped the tap open with such speed he swore he heard an audible crack in the sink. He smeared a random amount of toothpaste on his brush and ran out of the bathroom, looking around for something that wasn't as wrinkled as his current clothes were. He searched like an animal, all while salivating because of the toothbrush still stuck in his mouth. Once again, breakfast would be a no-go. Spitting into the sink and rinsing his brush in his new attire is always to be the second to last thing he did before running out of his apartment. The last thing would be hunting for his things and stuffing then into his old backpack. Assignments, hand-me-down laptop, charger, phone (not hand-me-down for once), notebooks, pencil, pen(if he was lucky enough to find one), and finally, wallet (which happened to be pitifully light)
The hallway was always dark, regardless of the time of day. The sorry lights didn't do much and once in a while flickered (which is not fun when walking back to your apartment alone and at night) The one thing that stood out was the rather clean elevator at the end of it. All of the residents treasured it. No one dared damage it, for if they did, the wrath of dozens of lazy residents would be upon them. (The stairs, on the other hand, sat abandoned at the left of the elevator doors.) Sprinting down the hall, Tobias was hyper aware of the doors, which, for whatever reason, opened out ways. It had been more than once that he'd gotten smacked in the face by an unsuspecting neighbor.
Reaching the elevator, Tobias proceeded to assault the ground floor button. He shifted from foot to foot, his backpack swaying on his back. He was only on the fifth floor, but it felt like forever before the doors closed. He exhaled, and ran his hands through his his black hair.
I should get it cut.
He glanced at the buttons, the number 4 was lit up.
Ok. Just a little more.
Slowly but surely, though, the elevator started slowing down.
No! WHY ME
Tobias let out a small groan as he stared at the slowly opening doors, ready to glare at the culprit that dared slow him down. When the doors opened, a young man with brown hair stepped in, his face looking flushed. The stranger gave Tobias a small smile and then glanced at the elevator buttons. Tobias just....stared. His frown quickly disappeared and he ended up staring at the elevator buttons along with the brunette.
Oh finally
Tobias wriggled through the doors as soon as there was enough space, surprising the stranger. He shot through the small lobby, taking a left and continuing with the same speed. A couple of blocks down, he realized something. He was being followed. Glancing behind him, he recognized the someone as the guy from the elevator. The black haired male chose to ignore it, and continued to jog to campus. He sighed, all of this had happened and it was only the first day of the week.
