You know that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when the person you are insanely in love with talks to you about something they're passionate about, or at least talks about something passionately? Well, that's how you felt right now. Jace was talking about something to do with the soul sword with Clary, Magnus, Dot, and Luke. You weren't really paying attention. The only thing you were paying attention to was the way his eyes sparkled. The way his hair fell gently into his face and the way his arms were crossed, almost as a defense against what they were talking about. He was perfect in your eyes. If only you were perfect in his.

"- destroy the soul sword," Jace frowned looking towards the ground.

"And destroy yourself in the process." Magnus agreed.

This is what you heard coming out of your dream-like trance. You immediately looked up

"No."

You had been quiet up until this point so the sudden noise made everyone look at you.

"Absolutely not. That's a suicide mission."

"Y/N, I'm not going to actually touch it. I just need to get to it before it's activated and bring the mortal instrument back to the clave where it belongs." Jace argued.

"It's too dangerous," Luke claimed.

"And besides Valentine would kill you if he saw you in the institute before you found the sword," Clary added.

"Jace, please we can find another way," you pleaded. You hadn't had the guts to tell him how you felt and you weren't going to let him die without knowing.

"Clary, Y/N. Please, just trust me."

You exchanged a look with Clary, then Magnus. No one said anything, but everyone knew Jace's plan was the only one we had, and as much as no one wanted him to go through with it, you had to trust him and you did. You always did. From the very first time you walked into the institute.

"Hi, I'm Jace Wayland. Who are you?"

You came out from behind your parents after you all walked into the institute. Your family had just been transferred and it was definitely a different experience.

"I'm Y/N Y/L/N," you said shyly.

It was a new place, you left all your friends back home and you didn't know if you would be able to live here and make friends. Your parents were talking to what you assume to be the head of the new institute. The woman looked down at you with a smile.

"Hi, Y/N. Why don't you go with Jace here to meet some of the other kid's including my son and daughter."

You nodded and followed Jace.

"Don't worry Y/N/N. You can trust me. I won't ever let you down. If you need anything, I'll be there to help as much as I can, or at least help you annoy adults into helping you."

You smiled at the nickname he had already given you. It would be fine here, as long as Jace was here.

From that moment on you always trusted Jace. He was true to his word and never steered you wrong. He never let you down, well, not yet anyway.

...

You, Jace and Luke, were heading towards the institute to get the sword and Simon. Jace had finally managed to get a hold of Alec at the institute to let him in on the plan when a complication happened. All we can assume is someone attacked Alec and he could be captured, hurt, or worse.
