The loud pounding at the door jolted me out of my sleep, nearly causing me to fall out of bed. What is going on? Tony surely knew I didn't lock the door last night so he could have walked in if he needed something. I scrambled out of bed and went to go open the door.
"Tony, what is—" My mouth instantly went dry as my eyes locked on Sebastian. "What are you doing here?" I stuttered. His demeanor was dark and angry and it frightens me. Behind him stood Tony, he seemed just as ticked off as Sebastian.
Sebastian's eyes roamed down to my body, noticing how I was no longer in the clothes from earlier tonight. He clenched his jaw, "grab your things we are leaving," He spat out through his gritted teeth.
I nodded and went to retrieve my things from the nightstand before, putting on my boots. From the corner of my eye, I shot glances at Sebastian as he stood there still, watching me get ready. By the looks of things, Sebastian wasn't happy I decided to take a detour from the palace. Before I stepped out into the hallway, I remembered I left my phone on the bed and went to grab it. Giving Sebastian a small innocent smile, I dropped my phone in my bag and proceeded to follow him down the hallway.
Why did I feel like a prisoner getting ready to be executed? I didn't do anything wrong? On the other hand, Sebastian left me drunk at a club with two girls I hardly knew. And he has the audacity to barge into Tony's house and acts as he owns it!
"How did you find me?" I asked him as we approached the front door. Sebastian turned to look at me with an agitated face.
"I called him," I heard Tony say behind me. I turned to look at him confused.
"Why?" I blurted out.
He smirked, "my friends called to let me know Sebastian was looking for you,"
"You should have let him suffer awhile..." my voice trailed off as I remembered him kissing the girl outside the alley. "he didn't seem to worry about me when he was kissing her,"
Sebastian's lips turned downward in disappointment. "I can explain that,"
"Please don't," I muttered, turning back to look at Tony, I gave him a small smile. "sorry for getting you involved,"
He shrugged, "it's fine. He isn't as scary as he looks," he says shooting a glance at Sebastian.
I chuckled quietly, "I'll see you at school," I wrapped my arms around his torso.
"Be safe, okay," I heard him say as I departed from him.
I nodded and took a step back towards Sebastian. "thanks for taking care of her," he said monotonously.
"Yeah, protect her better," Tony shot back.
I felt Sebastian tense behind me and I gulped, please don't start anything. Sebastian clicked his tongue, rolling off the comment. "won't happen again, sir,"
Tony and Sebastian were hiding a rivalry—was it a serious one where one of them wants the other dead or the teenage kind where one wants to prove they're better than the other one? I can't figure out which one it is, both options seem intense though.
Okay—it's better to leave before they decide to throw themselves at each other and I don't feel well enough to break a fight up. I cleared my throat, breaking the tension building up in the air and started to walk out the door.
The headache Tony was talking about earlier tonight was making its grand appearance. I let out a small groan as I got in the car if throwing up was bad, this headache was going to be far worse. We drove in silence for a while, but how Sebastian gripped the steering wheel, I knew he wasn't over being upset.
I wanted to be upset too, he did ditch me at a club when I was drunk, but I got to see Tony so there was an upside to things. I've learned not to get mad too easily, seeing my mom be upset at everything all the time left a sour taste in my mouth. Sebastian can be upset at me for leaving with Tony but he left me no choice, would he rather wanted me to take an Uber drunk to the palace?
"You can stay mad at me. I'm not apologizing," I finally broke the silence in the car.
"I'm not mad at you,"
I turned to look at him confused, "then, why do you look so ticked off?"
"I am angry with myself..." he responded quietly, tightening his grip on the wheel. "I wasn't thinking and when I couldn't find you I panicked. I thought someone took you,"
I couldn't help but to chuckle quietly, "dude, you act as if everyone is out to get you,"
"Adalyn, everyone is," He shot me a quick glance. "do you know why I chose not to show off my girlfriends in the past? It sure wasn't because I didn't want anyone to know about them. There are still bad people out there,"
"You can't hide everyone behind those black gates because you're afraid," I said. "The world was built with bad people, your job is to make sure you do what is best for the people living in your country,"
"Correct, and my job is also to protect you which I did a very miserable job. By the way, why don't you answer your phone!" He said annoyed.
"What are you talking about? My phone didn't ring once!" I shot back as I pulled out my phone from my purse. Tapping the screen it was full of missed calls and text messages from Sebastian. Looking at the side of the phone I noticed I had the silenced button on. Right, I tried taking a nap earlier today and Candace and Helen were texting me nonstop so I turned off my sound. I forgot to turn it back on.
"My phone was on silent," I whispered pushing the button back to turn the sound on.
Sebastian shook his head, "look, I know I was at fault here. But don't ever leave with anyone, understand?"
"Tony is someone I trust, unlike the two girls you left me with," I'm not saying I didn't trust the girls. They seemed nice and all, but if we are talking about everyone possibly being a bad person, then the only person I could have trusted in this situation was Tony.
He rolled his eyes, "don't ever leave with a guy again,"
I shot my head to the side, "are you threatening me?"
"No, it's a warning,"
