I sat on the subway for awhile, watching random people get on and off. I wanted to stay on the subway until it came to the last stop, however, it was getting close to when school was going to be over and I had detention. Even when things are falling apart for me, I still want to follow the rules. Considering my options, in how much trouble could I possibly get if I don't go to detention? I won't be kicked out of school—Queen Rachel will prevent from the school board doing such a thing. On the other hand, the worst thing Mr. Wash can do is give me detention for an extended period of time—which I don't care about.

It was settled, I wasn't going to go to detention or back to school. I got off at the next stop and walked around the streets of Madrid. I feel sad admitting this was the first time I took in the views of Madrid. My mom didn't have me locked up in the house, but she never gave me the time to be able to take in the fresh air and enjoy the beauty of the city. Normally, when I was stress, I'd take a cold shower until my fingers wrinkled from how long I had been in the water. I have to admit my coping skills aren't the best, but I found ways to clear my head, even if it was for a little while.

After walking around for over an hour, I stopped at a small cafe near the plaza. Entering the cafe, I took in the aroma of fresh coffee and chocolate chip cookies. I decided to grab an iced coffee and a turkey club sandwich for dinner. Picking the window seat to enjoy the sunset, I received a text message.

6:39 p.m Sophia Zavala: Adalyn, I have been trying to call you for an hour now. The guards have looked for you all over the school. Did you stay after school? call me.

I bite down on my lip and locked my phone. How I managed to leave the school without being detected from the guards was beyond me. I guess they weren't watching me too closely. Yet, I haven't ran off from school or palace premises before. A rule breaker was not in my file, I suppose.

"A turkey sandwich with fries for Adalyn," the cashier called out. I stood up from my chair and grabbed my food.

"Thank you," I told her and sat back down.

6:46 p.m Sophia Zavala: Answer the phone! This isn't funny, Adalyn. Where are you?

I thought about responding to her, mostly because I was worried about the amount of trouble I was in. I sighed heavily and locked turned my phone over. I was tired of being afraid. The amount of pain I went through with my mother will never compare with what Sebastian or Sophia can do to me.

After eating my food, the sun had gone down and the night had gotten chilly. I looked at my iWatch, 8:14 p.m. There was not much left for me to do, it was time for me to go to the palace. Or not.

(25) Missed Calls—Sophia Zavala, Sorry Sophia.

I placed my phone on 'do not disturb' and threw it inside my purse. I walked back to the Plaza Del Sol and sat down on a bench. For an hour I watched couples and families walk by all laughing, looking happy. I was jealous of their happiness—of their freedom. I wish I was able to feel the spark of joy in my stomach or come home to my parents making dinner. Instead, I live in a large home with not enough people to make it feel like one.

Sebastian can mold himself to be a King, but I can't even break one single rule without over thinking it. How am I suppose to pretend to be Spain's Princess, when conformations and rumors break me? I am not suited to be in this position.

(35) Missed Calls- Sebastian

9:05 p.m. Sophia Zavala: Adalyn, are you okay? I have looked all over for you. Please call me back. If I don't hear from you soon, I will have to get the police involved.
