Chapter 8: Come Closer

"MAN, I'M SO SCREWED." I said to myself as I ran on the sidewalk.

My chest felt like it was about to burst open, but I couldn't stop running otherwise I'd be late and I knew that, but luckily for me, work was right around the corner. Walking towards the entrance, I placed my hand on handle of the door and noticed a small, white flake fall down onto my hand..a snowflake? Oh..that's right, it's almost Christmas..isn't it?

I pulled open the door for a couple coming out, but they just seemed to ignore me, but that's nothing different, everyone almost seems to do that..

I walked into the restaurant hoping my manager wouldn't see me. I turned my head to see my coworker, Jin, he was a bit taller than me with black spiky hair, and he'd usually let me bum cigarettes off of him if he was feeling generous.

"Hey..Yoshiki, boss is gonna be pissed if he doesn't see you in uniform." He said.

"Yeah, yeah I know." I replied then walked into the employee locker room to change into my work uniform.

I walked out and faced Jin, "Damn, are we slow today?" I asked.

"Nah, we got a few families at some tables over there, some students there, and what looks like a really cute girl and maybe her older sister, looks like the same uniform as yours, she go to school with you or somethin' Kishinuma? He said.

I poked my head around.

I felt all of the blood rush out of my face "S-Shinozaki?! What the hell? Out of all the restaurants it had to be the one I work at." I said to myself.

My face flushed with heat.

She looked up in my direction, I then quickly pulled my head from the corner.

SHIT, she definitely saw me..dammit I'm screwed.

"What's the matter man? To me it seems you have a crush on the girl or something." Jin said with a grin.

"Would you shut the hell up? Someone will hear you, or worse, SHE'LL hear you." I said in a hushed voice.

I turned to look around the corner again and the face of a blue haired girl was almost nose to nose in mine.

"GAHH!" I shouted as I stepped back and tripped.

"Huh? Kishinuma-kun?" She questioned.

"Y-Yeah?" I replied back with shame in my voice.

"What do you think you're doing?" She asked, and this time she seemed angry.

I stood up, I felt embarrassed..I mean I was staring at her, and from any perspective that would come off as creepy..but still, she doesn't seem as angry as she was early this morning.

"Well..ah..you see, I..work here." I said scratching my head, trying to sound cheerful.

"Well from where I was sitting it looked like some creepy, pervert was looking at us." Shinozaki said coldly.

"How..cruel." I said lowly.

I turned towards Jin who was walking out to take his break..early, I could feel Shinozaki's eyes pierce the back of my skull, she had been waiting for an explanation.

I clapped my hands together.

"Forgive me! Shinozaki!" I exclaimed.

She hadn't looked like she was ready to forgive me, but then she turned her head and covered her mouth and I heard a noise.

"PFFFFFFFFT!"

She had burst out with laughter and I sat there confused.

"You should've seen the look on your face! AHAHA!" She said with uncontrollable laughter.

I sighed..

"I really thought you were going to take my head off for a minute." I said back still a little shaken.

She stopped laughing then looked at me with a serious face and said,

"I might've."

I flinched in fear and Shinozaki started to laugh again, I grinned at her smile, I felt better now..knowing that maybe she must have forgiven me, and I really hope she did because I couldn't stand for her to be mad at me. Though she's a bit on the "touchy" side, I can't help but still tease her when I can, and even now when she fools me..I can't stay mad at her.

After all..I do love her.
