Evenings

The evenings among them weren't the easiest, to say the least. Especially when there was a small variety between them.

Heatwave was easy, if he ended up getting tired or bored enough, he'd fall fast asleep. Though, he was a more light sleeper, so, there was that little problem.

With Boulder it depended. Sometimes it didn't really matter, he could fall asleep quick, other times he was up for hours. He wasn't a light or heavy sleeper, ironically enough.

Blades, it was harder. No one, no one, could tell what that evening would bring to them. He could be the easiest thing one night, - most likely already asleep, though - and the rest of the week it was hell to pay when bedtime rolled around. Made a little sense considering he was a 8 year old.

Chase? Oh god. Him being the anxious police bot he was, he was an easy insomniac. He also tended to have a bad case of exhaustion; tired as fuck, but unable to sleep. And thus, leads into his heavy sleeper morning tendencies.

Evenings were so, so much 'fun', weren't they, for the poor bots. However, what did they care, as long as they got sleep, what did it matter? It was normal for them now. They didn't exactly care. It was just a damn sleep schedule.

Heatwave once again was waiting for his partner to - finally - decide to go to sleep. Sitting there, across from Chase at the table, he was very tempted to take the paperwork. "Just take it, and drag his tired sorry ass to bed." He kept telling himself internally.

Chase was having another 'I'm tired but I can't sleep' night. "Exhaustion hit you again?" Heatwave asked, trying not to sound aggressive by any means. "Yes, I'm sorry..." Chase kind of mumbled.

Giving a sigh, Heatwave edged a little closer. "It's fine, you have nothing to apologize for, Chase." He said, trying to reassure his partner. "Just upset with the lack of sleep you've been getting. It's worrying, you know." He explained.

Chase looked up. "But are you really just worried?" He asked, unsureness sinking into his voice. "I mean, I'm up like this all the time, and it prevents you from getting sleep..." Chase said, looking down.

"Oh god. Not again..." Heatwave thought. "Chase, it's fine. I don't mind. I prevent myself from sleeping. Not you." He said, trying his very best to encourage Chase against the awful thoughts.

"Yes I do!" Chase protested. "That's all I ever do, mess up this, mess up that! I can't do anything right, even the simplest task as to let you sleep!" He said, his pen on the table. His doubts were catching up to him and it was showing. Especially from the way Chase laid his head down.

Heatwave was surprised. It wasn't often that Chase protested so harshly, and even made his awful thoughts be known in the same vein. He didn't like to talk about it often, or even ever really.

"Chase. It's alright. Look at me." Heatwave said patiently, turning Chase's head up to look at him. "I get it. You've been through quite the ringer. But, let's not let your bad thoughts take over your mind. Alright?" Heatwave said.

"But-" Chase's protest was cut off. "Ah ah ah. No 'but's. Let set this work aside," Heatwave said, pushing the papers out of the way. "and head to bed, m'kay?" He finished.

Heatwave stood up, walked over to Chase's side, and whisked him up into his arms. "C'mon. Your processor's gonna overheat before morning, if you keep it up." He said, walking to his and Chase's room.

"H-heatwave, I-" "Ah, no. You need to give your processor a break." Heatwave once again, cut Chase short of his protest. Chase sighed, "I suppose so... maybe I'm just overthinking it..." he said, giving in.

Heatwave laughed a little. "Nothing a little cool down, and sleep can't fix, right?"
